NEWS Big Red Island Beta Theta Pi at Oklahoma State University / Winter 2019 Think Back. Think Big. Think Beta. CELEBRATION ISSUE W ow! This year is a landmark year in Gamma Lambda's 97-year history. Our beloved 1207 transitioned from a 78 year-old house to an awesome and brand new Big Red Island. The recent fall issue of the BRI newsletter presented a pictorial tour of the house until you could or can take your own walk- through and see our amazing new home. This winter issue of the BRI circulates many pictures of the celebration day on October 5, 2019 for those who did attend the grand opening. For the brothers and friends who weren't present, this newsletter captures some of the excitement of the activities of the day. The event started with tours of our new house and then cocktail hour and dinner at the Wes Watkins Center. Presentations for the evening included speeches from our General Fraternity officers, Gamma Lambda officers, University President, and alumni. Entertainment was provided by our own Beta Four and the band for the evening was The Wise Guys, which includes two of our alumni. The emcee for our event was Bert Belanger '79 and presentations covered Beta's past and legacy, our rebirth, and the present state of the chapter. Our future was addressed by chapter brothers and alumni bringing these messages to the guests. The evening included many words of appreciation for the brotherhood and friends who gave time and financial support to make this project a success. Our General Fraternity officers spoke about the heritage of Beta Theta Pi and warmly noted the strength of our Gamma Lambda Chapter at Oklahoma State. The singing was bold when it came time for the Beta Four to lead us in Marching Along. The Loving Cup ceremony was at its best as you will note in the following pictures. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Stacy and Ken Black '81, Lori and Parker Strickland '88, and Lenlie Foster (mom of a chapter house brother) for their detailed planning and hard work which made this evening very special for all that were able to attend. READ, LOOK, AND ENJOY! A MEMORABLE 2019
