THETA OMEGA page 3 A s a Theta Omega alumna advisor, Whitney Juneau '05 is helping shape today's collegians into tomorrow's leaders while walking down memory lane and appreciating her time as an undergraduate. "It's been an incredible experience getting to know the young women and seeing a direct impact by guiding the chapter's leadership team. My years in Tri Delta taught me to appreciate those who came from different backgrounds and experiences than myself. In our sisterhood, we are connected through common bonds, and learning to find the commonalities through the differences is one of the greatest lessons I think we can all learn." Whitney joined Theta Omega through informal recruitment after her cousin, Kristin Wendt '05, encouraged her to get to know the women in the chapter. Thanks to her cousin's involvement and encouragement, Whitney quickly figured out Theta Omega was right place for her, and quickly found an abundance of growth opportunities. With that in mind, Whitney encourages undergraduates to "lean into every opportunity you get to have and enjoy the discovery process." She understands that too often there's pressure to find the perfect job early on in one's career. "You may be surprised where your career will take you, and you never know when you might want to draw upon or reconnect with a past experience." For the past 10 years, Whitney has owned and operated her own wedding and events business in the Lawrence area. She was fortunate to plan the weddings of two of her Tri Delta sisters. Aside from running her own business, Whitney has spent three years as the events and alumni relations coordinator for the KU School of Architecture and Design. She's now taking on their role of co-director of curricular affairs. Staying connected to the ∆∆∆ sisterhood as Theta Omega's alumna advisor has been an especially rewarding experience for Whitney, giving her a different view of the chapter. "I get to have such a unique living perspective of our chapter. Every time I walk through the doors at 1465 Oxford Road, I'm flooded with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia," Whitney shared. "I get to relive the laughter, the heartaches, and the accomplishments of the incredible women who call Theta Omega home. I am so proud and honored to tag along on their journeys." LIVE, LEARN, LEAD Whitney Juneau '05 Supports ∆∆∆ Membership Development as Alumna Advisor Theta Omega Continues Tradition of Sincerely Yours I n partnership with our national philanthropy, St. Jude Children's Hospital, each year all members of Theta Omega are challenged to send 40 letters to people they know encouraging support for St. Jude. Nearly 70% of all donations raised by Tri Delta across the nation is done through the Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign. This year, we will have a big event during chapter where everyone will turn in their letters. We will hand out letters one week prior to this event. If 80% or more of the chapter turns in their letters, then we will be relieved of formal chapter for the rest of the semester. Domino's will also be donating pizza as part of the prize for turning in our Sincerely Yours letters at chapter. Theta Omega always enjoys participating in this national ∆∆∆ event, and we are excited to celebrate another successful Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign.
