page 2 Theta Omega Welcomes 89 New Members This Fall (Continued from page 1) Awareness Week, the St. Jude 5K in Kansas City, Sincerely Yours, and even a trip to the St. Jude over fall break. Our members show an increased interest in their dedication to ending childhood cancer, and we could not be prouder of their efforts. Strengthening the Sisterhood In the newsletter last spring, I mentioned my hope for an increased bond within our sisterhood. I believe we captured that throughout this term. From monthly movie nights to Sisterhood Sunday events, including a Sporting KC game, and leisure activities like hot yoga and a Royals game, the officer team made it a priority to get sisters meeting and bonding. Proud to Be a Tri Delta I am so proud of the dedication our members and officers have to this chapter. As I transition out of my leadership role, I see nothing but growth for this incredible chapter. I would like to thank Theta Omega for the opportunities it's given me and the woman it's helped me become. We are thankful for our alumnae support—Theta Omega would not have reached the level of success we enjoy today without your steadfast support. Leadership Studies 301—It's On Us: Gender-Based Violence Prevention Launched This Fall T his semester, the University of Kansas Panhellenic community passed a new standing rule requiring new members have access to gender-based violence prevention training seminar during their first semester at KU. The goal of this course is to promote a positive college transition for new Greek women by providing knowledge about gender-based violence prevention, social justice awareness, and sexual health practices. This seminar replaces previous all-day sessions about the same topics with shorter, one-hour weekly meetings. Group work is the main intention and immediate access can be provided to members. This shift into a proactive, weekly course is exciting because it allows increased engagement through an easier to connect format that's more personal to new members. KU Panhellenic has taken advantage of the opportunity we have as collegiate women to be in charge of our own future. By allowing new members of this community to start their collegiate journeys supported by all of the resources we have available, it promotes a more positive Greek experience.
