Beta Theta Pi - MIT

B eta Theta Pi was established at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on September 27, 1913. For nearly 100 years, the Beta Upsilon Chapter was an important part of the MIT Greek community. From our beginnings, our proud history spoke for it- self through consistent academic achievement, leadership on cam- pus, and a focus on community service. With more than 1,000 initiates, BQPhas influenced the lives of numerous men and cul- tivated lasting friendships and experiences. As alumni, we can trace many of our best memories back to BQP and to MIT. While many of our Brothers have gone on to successful and dis- tinguished careers in business, engineering, medicine, research, and countless other endeavors, the common bond of our brother- hood, along with our shared principles and values, remains. The early training we received through our Fraternity, including lead- ership skills, organizational skills, social skills, and teamwork, has been integral to our personal success. We have the opportunity to rekindle our legacy at MIT in 2013. To best prepare this group of young men who will come together like our original founders, we must overcome a number of chal- lenges with regard to our housing. Built in the early 1900s, 119 Bay Street Road has been BQP's home since 1946. In 1964, Beta Upsilon purchased 120 Bay Street Road, and for more than 55 years these two facilities have witnessed the march of time. In order to attract and retain quality new members, and to help BQP regain a prominent position with the Greek community, it is time we make an investment in our future. We call upon you to remember the opportunity afforded by the Brothers before you and ask you to help us ensure the Beta expe- rience is available for future generations of young men at MIT. Join us as we build a strong foundation at Beta Upsilon for a new era dedicated to leadership, scholarship, athleticism, philanthropy, and community.
