Maintenance Endowment Ordinary maintenance and cleaning is covered in the undergrad- uate annual budget. Our multi-million-dollar facility requires and deserves a proactive maintenance plan. We have calculated that $500,000 invested prudently would sustain a proactive mainte- nance budget of $25,000 annually to fund extraordinary repairs and asset maintenance on an ongoing basis. Total Estimated Cost: $500,000 Financial Stabilization Beta Upsilon owns two beautiful buildings in a historic district that have never undergone major renovations. However, in recent years the Beta Upsilon Association was forced to take on signifi- cant debt to address critical issues, such as new roofs on both buildings, significant exterior envelope work to address water is- sues, new windows, improvements to correct deficiencies in life safety systems, and improvements to kitchen and bath to address unsanitary conditions. These updates have resulted in $600,000 of debt. To amortize the existing debt requires approximately $4,000 per month. Our plan calls for alumni assistance over the next five years to reestablish a firm financial footing by eliminating this debt.
