Well, there a Trades For Kids event planned for young people ages 11 to 20. The event will be at Com- munity Center in Quartzsite Nov 16th. Hours are 10 am to 1 pm and is hosted by Steve Korsvall. There will be a donation can for hand tools placed at Herbs Hard- ware in Quartzsite and Ace Hard- ware in Parker. Many trades people will be vol- unteering their time showing kids a variety of trades that it takes to build a building. Free to kids and their parents. There will be differ- ent hammering races for kids. Priz- es will consist of recycled tools that people have donated. There will also have large equipment present, like a large tow truck with a wrecked car in the air. Possibly an excavator. Many fun exhibits. For more information conatct 209-484-9826. Tools will be given away during out hammer- ing races and nut turning races. VFW POST 769 will host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Mon- day, November 11, 2019, 11:00 am at the Planes in the Quartzsite Town Park, corner of N. Plymouth Ave. and E. Quail Trail St. The Post Commander Dennis Dole will be the Master of Ceremonies. This year the Post Members will hold a POW/MIA Table Ceremony/ Explanation of the Missing Man Table. This Ceremony shows the commitment of all Military Person- nel and their friends and family to those that were Missing In Action or Held as Prisoners Of War. Along with this ceremony we will have present Crew Chief, Sgt. Lou Nallepa, for F-4 Tail number 384 while it was stationed in Vietnam. 384 is one of the two F-4's Quartzsite has on display in the Park. Along with Sgt. Nallepa is Sgt. James (Spanky) Remedies, Crew Chief of F-4 Tail Number 405 and Staff Sgt. Roger Somerfi eld, Crew Chief of F-4 Tail Number 396. Both 405 and 396 were lost in action over Vietnam. This information would not have known if it weren't for Doug Foore. Mr. Foore researched 384, found its location, Quartzsite, AZ and in- formed Sgt. Naleppa where it is. A Big Thank You to Doug.
