5 Minnesota Alpha Alumnae Update CHAPTER ETERNAL Shirley Wall Tolley '49 entered Chapter Eternal on January 12. Born and raised in Minnesota, she earned her J.D. from Hofstra University in 1979, and practiced law in White Plains, N.Y. Shirley was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. She was active in the League of Women Voters and politics in Larchmont, New York, where she was an environmental advocate for Long Island Sound. Shirley's daughter, Anne, writes, "She always remembered her days at U of M and Pi Beta Phi with affection." Mary Myles Eversoll '62 entered Chapter Eternal on May 13. An educator in the Mounds View Public School District, Mary first worked with teen mothers and later as a counselor at the Area Learning Center. She loved cooking, gardening, traveling, and adventures of all kinds. Her son, Jon, writes, "She loved being a Pi Beta Phi sister and they were among her dear friends." ALUMNAE NEWS Enid Langman Orser '44 lives with her son, Charles, on his rural property in Washington near the small town of Enumclaw. Charles' daughter, Celeste, is also a Pi Phi and lives near them. Mary Louise Hadler Caple '46 is 92 years old, lives in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and still drives locally; she is active in church and community activities. Mary Louise has fond memories of living in the Pi Phi house in the 1940s and enjoys reading about the active chapter's activities. "Bless you all!" Email: sallydfritz@gmail.com Jane Olson Greene '50 and her husband, Jerry, retired from their jewelry store, EverGreene Jewelers, and moved to Harrison Bay Senior Living in Mound, Minnesota. They are in good health and have family nearby whom they see often. Email: janerjerry2@gmail.com Jacqueline Hjermstad Smith '55 lives in Green Valley, Arizona, and loves it, but still treasures her Minnesota memories. Email: kiwipalmn@gmail.com Patricia Foy Rice '56 retired as a New Jersey School of Business administrator in 1999. She lived in Springboks, New Jersey., for four decades and now resides in St. Helena Island, South Carolina. Patricia and her husband, Frank Rice Jr., have three sons and one granddaughter. Patricia has run nine marathons. Email: ricepatty@hotmail.com Diane Gadbois Van Dusen '56 married George Van Dusen in 1963. They have two children, Chip and Tori, and four grandchildren: three boys and one girl. Diane lived in Edina for 43 years and has lived in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, for 13 years. Her husband passed away in 2012. She has been spending winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, for 24 years and loves it. Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Rost Wiens '57 worked as a public health nurse for several years and later worked as an assistant to the gift buyer for Bachman's in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She enjoys gardening, reading and being a wife, mother and grandmother. Betty Ann is also an artist. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She belongs to the Phoenix Pi Phi Alumnae Club, in which she enjoys luncheons and book club events with her Pi Phi sisters. She published two business books and is active in conservation and travel. Peggy has 55 countries, skis internationally, and has restored her property in Palatine, Illinois, to its natural landscaping. She was a military wife for 21 years of service and is proud to be a Marine mom and mother of a law enforcement officer. Louise loves to travel back to her childhood home in northern Minnesota several times a year. She is active in serving her church, veterans, and the military. Louise enjoys game nights with friends as well as her weekly women's bible study.
