Lyre Letter 4 THANK YOU, LOYAL SISTERS Join Us in Securing Another 100 Years of ΑΧΩ! M argret Ginzler Robb '67 believes we are the sum of our past experiences and our expectations for our future. For her, Alpha Chi Omega is a fundamental part of who she is, and the reason she is a Real. Strong. Woman. today. Alpha Beta was an anchor for Maggie at Purdue, a place to come home to. It was also a home for her growth. She feels "college years are a formidable period of growth and change and Alpha Chi played an important part in those years. It is part of the context of who I am and who I have become." In addition, Alpha Beta taught Maggie how to work in a team environment and make group decisions, lessons she has carried throughout her life and into her career. After earning a B.S. and M.S. in business economics from Purdue, Maggie graduated magna cum laude with her J.D. from Indiana University. Her participation in a graduate program for Indiana judges would set the stage for a historic career. For many years she ran her own general law practice and, among other duties, served as a deputy public defender. In 2011, Maggie began a three- year term as chief judge; the first woman to hold that position in the court's more than 100-year history. In 2018, she became the president of the Council of Chief Judges, a national association of current and former chief judges. As a lawyer and judge, Maggie's word is her bond. She is loyal to the rule of the law and follows through on her promises—all traits she is proud of. She has a strong track record of mentoring and doing pro bono work. Over the years, Maggie has been a leader in a number of national organizations and has won many awards, but she is perhaps most proud of the legacy she worked so hard to achieve. "My leadership positions and awards have been given to me for different reasons and by different people and groups," she shared. "It is meaningful that I have made a difference to so many people and that my efforts to make a difference—to the best of my abilities—have been achieved." More than 50 years into her membership, Alpha Chi remains an important part of Maggie's life. From Alpha Beta friends whom she keeps in touch with to Alpha Chis from other chapters she has worked with, Alpha Chi continues to weave itself into her story. Maggie lives in West Lafayette with her husband, a retired Purdue professor. They have one son, who is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a commander on active duty in the Navy.
