ALPHA CHI OMEGA 5 Letter from the President T he fall semester is off to a great start! Polish week began on August 12 to prepare for formal recruitment. We practiced the logistics of recruitment and had discussions about the Alpha Chi Omega sisterhood to bring us even closer together. Our recruitment leaders and chapter members worked hard to make this recruitment season positive, meaningful and enjoyable. Chloe Whicker '17, vice president of new member education, has been working tirelessly to help our 41 new members feel welcomed, loved and informed. I am proud to report that Alpha Beta was recognized for third in grades within the Panhellenic community with a spring semester GPA of 3.37. Our members have been working hard to do their absolute best both academically and professionally. Sisters always give a helping hand to others struggling with classes, writing a resume or preparing for a career fair. What a blessing it is to be surrounded by such inspiring Real. Strong. Women. On September 21, Alpha Beta had our first Alpha Chi Yoga philanthropy event on the Pedestrian Bridge in Lafayette planned by the lovely Sheila Schuh '17. Anna Ratchford '16 led a yoga flow for Alpha Chis and members of the community. Proceeds from the event went to the YWCA, the local women's shelter that benefits women and families affected by domestic violence. On Fridays, our sisters go to the YWCA for art therapy with the women and children where we enjoy getting to know them and helping in any way possible. On October 19, we partnered with Theta Chi for Alpha Chi GI Theta Chi, an interactive event to support YWCA. ΑΧΩ headquarters staff led the program REPRESENT in September, which focused on Alpha Chi Omega branding. We had many productive conversations about our brand, how we can improve and how we can bring our own personal brands together as a chapter. I'm excited to see the progress we make! Recently, Alpha Beta has made efforts to reduce waste and save the environment. Recycling bins have been placed throughout the chapter house to promote recycling. College Fresh has collaborated with us to weigh our food waste each night to gain awareness about how much food we are wasting and how we can better purchase the correct quantities. Our chapter has been interested in the idea of saving our resources and bettering the environment. Alpha Beta is having a busy but exciting fall semester! We are looking forward to getting to know the new members, working with the YWCA and growing together in our sisterhood.
