Giving Back to Indiana Alpha of Sigma Phi Epsilon A t the beginning of this project, a small group of alumni, many of whom you may know, made early commitments and stretched their gis to demonstrate the importance of this project. We urge each alumnus to do the same and consider a major gi to the campaign. To help donors maximize their gis, the campaign board has designed the campaign with several options for our alumni. TAX DEDUCTIBILITY. e Internal Revenue Service will allow exclusively educational space in the renovated and expanded chapter house to be funded with tax-deductible dollars that are gied through the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation and designated for the Indiana Alpha Chapter. Funds will then be disbursed to the Indiana Alpha Alumni Corporation to cover those associated costs. Because the educational elements of the project are limited, the campaign board is requesting the tax-deductible pledges be reserved to those pledges of $25,000 and above. GIFTS OF SECURITIES, IRA DISTRIBUTIONS, AND MATCHING GIFTS. For pledges of $25,000 or more made to the Sigma Phi Educational Foundation, a contribution of appreciated securities may be an excellent way to support the campaign. e donor of appreciated securities will not ordinarily be subject to capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the gi. In addition, for alumni who are 70½ or older, a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA may be a way to lower your income and taxes from IRA withdrawals. Also, if your employer offers a matching gi program, a gi to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation may be eligible for a match. Please consult your tax advisor for professional advice. PAYMENT OPTIONS. Pledges can be fulfilled as a one-time gi, or annual, quarterly, or monthly installments spread over a five-year period. RECOGNIZING LOYAL SIGEPS. Special naming opportunities and a framed campaign memento will be available to alumni contributing $25,000 and above. All donors contributing $5,000 or more will be recognized on a prominently displayed plaque in the chapter house. Unless otherwise requested, donors contributing a minimum of $2,500 to the campaign will be recognized in print publications. Names will appear by category, relative to the size of the gi. Gis in honor or in memory of brothers, as well as family and pledge class gis, are welcomed. Recognition in such cases will be given to both the donor and the honoree.
