Zeta Psi Chapter 2 THANK YOU FOR CONTRIBUTING TO OUR ANNUAL FUND Make Your Donation to Zeta Psi Today to Help Us Reach $30,000! T he success of Zeta Psi wouldn't be possible without the gracious support of our alumni. Thanks to the alumni listed below, we have raised $6,720 for Zeta Psi's annual fund in 2019. While those dollars are being put to good use, we still have a lot of work to do to meet our annual goal of $30,000. Additional gifts are needed to complete renovations and support our undergraduate brothers. Submit your gift today to add your name to the donor list next spring. Non-tax deductible donations go toward chapter house improvements and are payable to the Sigma Chi Building Company. Tax-deductible donations are used for educational expenses and leadership programs. They must be made payable to the Lincoln W. Pavey Educational Foundation. If you feel an error has been made in recording your gift, we sincerely apologize. Please contact our campaign coordinator at (785) 843-1661 with any corrections. Thank you for your continued support! F or a slightly introverted, dedicated student and disciplined football player, fraternity life may have seemed like an unlikely fit, but for Daryl Bible '83, Sigma Chi became home. "I joined to broaden my horizons," he said. "You met people in different areas of academics and interests, and it broadened my self-awareness as well." Zeta Psi, Daryl quickly learned, is a brotherhood with a lot of moving parts. In the chapter house "there was always something going on," but most importantly for Daryl, there were friendships being built and teamwork always at play. Although most of his time was spent studying at the library, the feeling of community throughout the house and between brothers helped Daryl experience other facets of life. "I've always been a good student and would say I'm still a little introverted, but Sigma Chi helped me learn how to socialize with everyone, how to get along with different people." Gatherings at the house and attending sporting events as a group are some his favorite memories with his brothers. Daryl is proud to say he never missed a class or football practice his entire college career. He lived a very structured, disciplined life to keep up with academics and be a student-athlete. This dedication has carried him far in life as he is now the chief financial officer for BB&T Corporation, the eighth-largest bank in the United States. Upon the merger with SunTrust, the new bank will be the sixth-largest in the U.S. "I never thought I'd be here," Daryl said when sharing how he got started in the field. Working his way up from treasurer to CFO, Daryl has worked with two banks, U.S. Bancorp and BB&T, and has been a part of four doublings in acquisitions. "Not many people can say that. I am fortunate to have been a part of some great teams," he said. It has been this teamwork that Daryl appreciates most about his life experiences. From his team now at BB&T to his days on the football field in college and the lifelong team that comes with being a part of Sigma Chi, Daryl has experienced some excellent examples of teamwork. "It's not all about being the best, but where you can feel welcome is where you can be successful," Daryl said. Zeta Psi offered this place for Daryl and, despite balancing his commitments, was a home that encouraged his success. Any spare time Daryl has is spent with his wife and nine children. He keeps in touch with his Zeta Psi brothers and is always surprised how small the world is when he runs into a Sigma Chi brother by chance. You can reach Daryl at daryl.bible@bbandt.com.
