During those first seven days back in Columbia, we worked hard to get ready for potential new members to arrive. Focused on Sisterhood Bonding While we prepared for recruitment, we had a significant focus on sisterhood bonding. On August 5, a taco food truck served us dinner and we picnicked on the front lawn. Lauren Brummett '17 brought Pure Barre Columbia to our Chapter House to teach a sweaty workout class. To wrap up the week, we were invited to the home of Recruitment Advisor Heidi Riemann Miles '80 on August 9. We ziplined across the pond, swam in her pool, and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the sun! Showing Our St. Jude Love Recruitment kicked off on Sunday, August 11, with two rounds of open house tours. Our philanthropy round centered around St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with the theme, "No Child Should Die in the Dawn of Life," in honor of a famous quote from Danny Thomas. Our kitchen was decorated with greenery draped from the windows, butterflies scattered across the walls, and posters of St. Jude patients were on display. On sisterhood round, we wore blue dresses to exemplify our national Tri Delta colors. That afternoon, potential new members saw our sisterhood video, listened to the senior membership class tradition of "Tri Delta is...," and received a house tour. On the final morning, we had more than 100 potential new members in our Chapter House for a beautiful and ceremonial preference round. Welcoming 70 New Tri Deltas After months of preparation and a fun-filled, yet emotional two weeks, the outcome of our fall 2019 formal recruitment exceeded our expectations. Seventy women joined Delta Xi, and we could not be prouder to call them our sisters. They ran home to "That Delta Show," for our '70s-themed Bid Day on August 17! They are generous, empathetic, passionate, and confident young women. Not only did they see attributes in us that they wanted in a sisterhood, but we feel confident these women will exemplify steadfast love and friendship for a lifetime.
