DDD page 3 Family from the Start How Amber Phillips Condict '89 Found a Home with Tri Delta Going through recruitment can be an overwhelming process. Why did you decide to join Tri Delta and what has it meant to you over the years? Tri Delta is where I felt welcome, comfortable, and at home. During Preference Day, it really spoke to me when the seniors said, "We don't want you to come here and be like us; we want you to come here and be like you." I felt like I was accepted for who I was, and my strengths would be appreciated. What sense of pride did you gain as a Delta Xi member? The leadership opportunities through Tri Delta provided me with a strong sense of pride through service to others. It is wonderful to belong to an organization that encourages and builds unselfish leadership and lasting bonds of friendship. What does it mean to be able to share the Tri Delta sisterhood with your family who are also members? Having my two younger sisters join Tri Delta was a wonderful way to increase our friendship during college and the years beyond. We love sharing our stories, singing our Tri Delta songs, and bringing our children from an early age to 901 Richmond. Now that I have two daughters and a niece in the chapter, it has taken my love of Tri Delta to another level! It is so special to get to share in their experiences and be a part of their time in the chapter. It was especially sweet to move one of my daughters into the same room I lived in on the third floor. Do you feel that Tri Delta played a part in shaping who you are today, and if so, how? Absolutely! Much of my leadership and volunteer skills stem from my Tri Delta days. The friendships I made during my collegiate years are so near and dear to my heart. It has been amazing sharing life after college with these women and they bring me so much joy and comfort. I have truly been blessed with lifelong friendships through Tri Delta. Have you stayed involved with the chapter as an alumna? When my daughters were young, I helped with Circle Degree. For the past three years, I have helped serve as an advisor during recruitment. It is a long two weeks, but so enjoyable and rewarding. I joined the house corporation in May 2018 and serve on several committees. I love how Tri Delta continues to be a special part of my life. Whether it's getting together yearly with my class sisters, new friendships developing from serving on house corporation, watching the collegiate members shine during recruitment, or pinning my daughters on initiation, all these moments leave a lasting impact on my heart. Favorite Quote: "It's not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters." – J.M. Laurence Advice to Undergraduates: Define and find your own happiness in whatever path you choose. Realize your plans may change and be open to new opportunities. You only get out what you put in, so you might as well give it your all!
