SIGMA NEWS 2 T his summer saw exci ng changes as the TV room (formerly the chapter room) received a fabulous update. The dark wood paneling and computer stalls have been removed, resul ng in a room that feels light and airy. The drop ceiling was replaced with drywall and stylish new furnishings finish off the space. The floral carpe ng that has adorned the stairs and upstairs hallways for decades was replaced with new, modern, and durable carpet. We replaced areas of hardwood on the main floor as the heavy summer rain caused some unfortunate flooding. Our biggest project was the renova on of the basement laundry room. There are now four brand-new washers and dryers for our members to use. Quiet study rooms on each floor have also been created to increase the amount of space dedicated to academics. Our members were excited to show off all these new and updated spaces during recruitment—which was a huge success! Lastly, Sally Ramseyer Beck '74, our beloved and long- me academic advisor and house corpora on volunteer, re red from her Sigma du es this summer upon her move to Montana. We thank Sally for her passion, dedica on, and the endless hours she gave to Sigma. She even returned to Lawrence for two weeks and stayed in the house to help with recruitment.
