Collegians Live the ExtraAΦdinary Life I t's that time of the year! Summer flew by but us Phis kicked it into gear and brought 70 new sisters home. Aerin Hanks '16, our vice president of membership recruitment, and her team worked hard all summer to prepare. Aerin's sister, Omicron alumna Clare Hanks '12, is our new recruitment advisor. How cool it was to watch them work side-by-side! The new members jumped right into a new chapter activity, an Alpha Phi pool party at Truman's Pond the day after Bid Day. Spring Accomplishments At the Mizzou Panhellenic Association's award ceremony, Katie Innis '16 received the PHA's Outstanding Senior of the Year award. We're so proud of Katie and all she has accomplished throughout her time at Mizzou. Omicron was also awarded Philanthropic Excellence. It was no surprise as Annelise Nissen '17 and the rest of the philanthropy team brought their A-game this spring. We had a huge turnout at our event, Alpha Phizza, and a record-breaking number of 20 teams sign up for our Alpha Phifa soccer tournament. The highlight of our semester by far was throwing a party for our Miracle child, Declan, and his family. We rented Lazer Lanes in Columbia and had a memorable night filled with bowling, lazer tag, bumper cars, and Declan's personal favorite, arcade games. Following this party, Alpha Phis danced for 13.1 hours straight at Mizzouthon with Declan to raise funds for the Women's and Children's Hospital. Alpha Phi made a whopping contribution of $8,884. We feel so blessed to have Declan apart of our lives; he truly is an inspiration to us all! The Bond of Sisterhood Omicron definitely had our share of fun at sisterhood events this spring. We painted jewelry trays and made hearts for our Ace of Hearts formal dates. On Spring Bid Day, we welcomed home five COBs. To celebrate, we made bracelets and planted succulents together. Omicron also had an unforgettable Mom's Weekend complete with canvas painting, shopping, a picnic, yoga on the quad, and of course plenty of photo booths. To end the semester, we celebrated our seniors at a brunch at the Columbia Country Club. This was a great way to show our appreciation for our senior sisters and reflect on the outstanding year we had together. Fall Forward At the end of September, Omicron headed to St. Louis for our annual sisterhood retreat. Special highlights included watching the Cardinals beat the Cubs at Busch Stadium. We have a crazy football season this year as the tigers play five home games in a row. Make sure to stop by at the 906 and say "hi" between your tailgating festivities. Our new House Director, Christy Garnett, would love to meet you all. We're looking forward to a November filled with heart health awareness featuring our annual Red Dress Gala and poker tournament. Emily Kastner '16 is this year's Red Dress chairman. We can't wait to see you all there witnessing her vision come alive. As always, thank you all for the ongoing love and support you give Omicron. It gives us comfort knowing we have an alumnae base rooting us on. I look forward to seeing some of you at our upcoming events. Yours loyally, Alexa Santangelo '17 Chapter President Caitlin Ung '18, Alexa Santangelo '17, Declan, his brother CJ, and Jenna Rainey '17 take a quick dance break at Mizzouthon.
