Always Alpha Phi 4 T here are many words to describe Katelynne Cox '12: renaissance woman, force of nature, and a prodigy. This year, her newest title is Miss District of Columbia. Along with winning Miss DC, Katelynne received the Miracle Maker Award for raising $45,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. As the first in her family to attend college, enrolling at 15, completing a bachelor's degree, and completing two graduate certificates in nonprofit and public management from Mizzou, her life story is nothing but impressive. Katelynne is the manager of fundraising and events at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and executive director of Silence Is Not Compliance, an organization that rehabilitates rape survivors and educates kids on how to prevent sexual violence. Despite a busy schedule, Katelynne is a dedicated alumna of Alpha Phi and serves as the president of the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter. We look forward to cheering our sister on as she competes for Miss America 2020 in December. Seeking a new outlet, being a house director has given me a new skillset: property management. I love the energy college students display and their joy for what the future brings. The sense of purpose and this hope for the future have been a daily gift. Home is again the Columns. You never leave. MIZ!"
