p. 3 Sigma Phi Epsilon TO CAMPUS Sigma Phi Epsilon O ur biggest takeaway from Conclave was how we can positively impact the Greek community at FSU. Implementing SigEp policies/tools in our Chapter will show how they can be applied to other chapters. We're specifically looking at recruitment, utilizing the Balanced Man Scholarship in a broader scope, and emphasizing a bid process that is ongoing 365 days a year. Using what we learned will ensure that we recruit the best of the best and give our success longevity. GOALS FOR THE 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR: • Fully implement the Balanced Man Scholarship process Previously, scholarships were primarily based on personal need. If we had a new member who showed promise yet struggled financially, we would award them the scholarship. Moving forward, we hope to find other ways to financially support our brothers in need and to gear the BMS toward recruiting those potential members who initially might not be considering Greek life. We plan on expanding our program so the BMS opportunity is in the hands of guidance counselors across the state, and that conversations with possible recipients are truly highlighting the future of the Fraternity. • Improve our stance on mental health I'm elated to share that SigEp is forming a task force to study mental health and the Interfraternity Council at FSU is taking the initiative to include mental health- forward training procedures within our risk management policies this semester. This year, we plan to partner with the university counseling center to host a mental aid training seminar. Brothers will learn how to have conversations about mental health, what signs to watch for to start the conversation, and more. Membership numbers are flourishing. We've had more than a 95 percent retainment rate during the last two formal recruitment periods. We've amped up the recruitment workshops, making sure everyone understands what it means to have a genuine conversation and not just small talk. A notable comment made during house preview was that, according to potential members, "SigEp makes it seem like they actually care about who we are as a person, our essence, not just what we've done or our achievements." Words cannot even describe the level of excitement built around the Return to Campus campaign. This summer, we moved out of our 12-year home on Heritage to 829 W Pensacola St. and we can't wait to take up residence in our new home in fall 2020. To see this plan, years in the making, filled with hard work and perseverance finally come to fruition is a beautiful thing.
