Saturday, March 23, 2013 ��� Daily News 3B Juanita Lake group campsite available With warmer weather approaching, many visitors are starting to plan for outdoor activities in their National Forests. Visitors can now reserve Juanita Lake Group Campsite, a popular camping area in Butte Valley, thanks to its addition to the National Recreation Reservation Service. Located about 3 miles west of highway 97 south of Macdoel, Juanita Lake Group Campsite can accommodate up to 50 campers. Juanita Lake provides ample opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing, nonmotorized boating, swimming, and hiking, with a 1.5 mile accessible loop trail around the lake or a nearby 6 mile hike to Ball Mountain Lookout. Juanita Lake Campground is adjacent to the Group Campsite and offers 23 tent camping sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Many amenities at Juanita Lake Campground, the Day Use Site and Group Campsite including a paved boat launch, dock, and fish cleaning station (available during the summer months) were updated and improved in 2010. Visitors can reserve the Group Campsite up to 1 year in advance and as late as 2 days prior to arrival. The camping fee is $50 per night. There is also a non-refundable convenience fee for using the reservation system. This fee is $10.00 for phone reservations and $9.00 for web reservations. Reservations can be made online at www.recreation.gov or by calling the toll free number 1-877-444-6777.
