FARMHOUSE FRATERNITY 2 ALUMNI UPDATE Raymond D. Vlasin, Ph.D. '51 remains active in consulting on both community and economic development and in civic matters. He lives in East Lansing, Mich. Email: r.vlasin@att.net Gary L. Toebben '67 was awarded an honorary doctorate of business from Pepperdine University on December 8, 2018. He gave the commencement address to the business school graduates. Gary and his wife, Janice, live in Pasadena, Calif., and have four children and nine grandchildren. Email: garytoebben@gmail.com Jon A. Camp '68 retired in May 2019 from the Lincoln City Council after serving five, four- year terms. Jon was the longest serving member of the council's history. He will remain active in redevelopment and ownership/management of properties in Lincoln's historic Haymarket, of which his firm was in the original development. Email: richard_ann_crom@ verizon.net John A. Novotny '74 is a consultant for the Columbus Community Hospital and a national Red Cross disaster worker. He enjoys taking international medical mission trips and has three grandchildren in Omaha. John and his wife, Nila, live in Columbus, Neb. Email: janovot@megavision.com Scott G. Kurz '84 is the physiology laboratory manager at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Animal Science. In November 2018, he was awarded the Outstanding Employee Award in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at UNL. Scott and his wife, Pam, have two sons, who both graduated from Elkorn High School. Jeremy is a junior at UND, studying accounting. Nathan is a freshman natural science major at UNL and plays the baritone in the Cornhusker marching band. Email: scott.kurz@cox.net Daniel A. Simon, Ph.D. '86 won a 2018 Nebraska Book Award for his book, Nebraska Poetry: A Sesquicentennial Anthology, 1867- 2017. He is editor in chief of World Literature Today magazine at the University of Oklahoma. Email: dsimon@ou.edu Jamie T. Karl '93 was recently hired by the Ohio Manufactures Association as the new managing director of communication services. He was vice president of public affairs and policy at the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the previous 12 years. He lives in Dorchester, Neb. Email: jamietkarl@gmail.com Brett C. Stohs '98 works with law students at the University of Nebraska College of Law as the director of the Weibling Entrepreneurship Clinic. Minarick '00 started a company that is building an online agricultural marketplace connecting investors with farmers and producers. He and his wife have been foster parents, and Mitchell is currently a FarmHouse chapter advisor. Kenney '12 and his wife, Leah, welcomed their first daughter, Brielle, on June 4, 2018. In October 2018, Gavin changed jobs and now works as a sales representative for Wilbur- Ellis.
