Join us for our 10th annual Homecoming
Tailgate—be part of this tradition! Food and
drink is sponsored by the Beta Tau Alumni
Corporation. Alumni, undergraduates, family,
and friends are invited. Game kickoff is at
3:30 p.m. and we hope you'll help us cheer
on the Spartans as they take on the Indiana
Hoosiers.

IN OUR MYSTIC SHRINE
John Burchfield '57 entered Our Mystic
Shrine on July 13, 2018. During John's last
year at Michigan State, he met the love of
his life, Janice Shad, whom he was happily
married to for 60 years. He spent a decade
on the Ohio State faculty before moving with
his family to Sylvania, Ohio, to practice at
Flower Hospital, the Toledo Clinic, and St.
Luke's Hospital. Toward the end of John's
medical career, he and Jan moved back to
the Burchfield Family Farm in Holland. A few
of John's hobbies included restoring and
collecting early American clocks and lighting
pieces, bicycles, and cars; working on the
family farm; trips to Glen Arbor with his family;
music; and attending MSU sporting events.
