Rho Chapter Strand of Pearls 2 T he Rho Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi at The Ohio State University had an incredible spring semester. We welcomed our new executive board and the new member class. Over the course of the semester we partici- pated in over 20 sisterhoods, raised money for Sharsheret in our annual basketball tournament, and participated in events around campus such as Greek Week and the Variety Dance Show. The women of Rho Chapter combined for a 3.63 GPA, which tied for the highest sorority GPA on campus. VP of Scholarship Sarai Glaze '18 transformed our scholarship program into a more mean- ingful venture. Sarai implemented major/minor buddies by pairing new members with upperclassmen in the chapter, providing them with assistance in their academic pursuits. Many members of the Rho Chapter are on the Dean's List for their academic achieve- ments. Additionally, members of the chapter are on the Hillel Lead- ership Board along with women who serve on the Panhellenic As- sociation Board. VP of Philanthropy Cameryn Cohen '18 worked to ensure the success of our annual basketball tournament, Phi Trotters, that occurred on April 7. Our chapter raised $4,561 for our non-profit cause, Sharsheret, to support Jewish women with breast can- cer. Additionally, members are involved in service throughout the Columbus community. As Cameryn states: "As a chapter, we participated in a blanket making sisterhood event for After School Superstars, which keeps inner-city school students off the streets after school; blankets were donated to those who could not afford them." We welcomed a new member class of 52 women, meeting cam- pus quota. Our new member class includes 15 legacies joining their families as members of AEPhi, and women coming from ev- ery corner of the country. We kicked off the semester with a New Bids on the Block-themed Bid Day. Our new member educator, Lacie Berkowtiz '18, taught the new members the core values of AEPhi. As Lacie says often: "It was privilege to use my past experi- ences to help educate the future of our sorority and instill in these women the values that we hold close to our hearts." Our initiation welcomed alumnae to pin their daughters and participate in the celebration. Thank you to all the family members who came out to celebrate and carry on our long-lasting tradition. Throughout the semester, we paired with other Greek organiza- tions and attended events around the community. We teamed with Alpha Gamma Delta and Zeta Tau Alpha for study tables and par- ticipated in a s'mores event at Delta Chi. In addition to the AEPhi National Convention in D.C., as president, I attended a President's Academy for OSU where I learned leadership skills and created relationships with the other chapter presidents. We couldn't have had such an amazing semester without the help of our sisters who constantly exemplify the true values of AEPhi. A special thank-you to all of our alumnae for their constant love and support. Our chapter house is always open, and we encourage all alumnae to visit.
