eing a Delta Gamma can mean a lot of different things to a lot
of different women. For Julie Gaddy '83 it means cherished
memories and a lifelong bond with her sisters. As a legacy, Julie
already felt connected to Delta Gamma, but once she went
through recruitment, she saw how truly special the Alpha
Omega chapter is. The Delta Gammas of Alpha Omega made
Julie feel at home and from then on, she knew it was where
she wanted to be.
Julie recalls many memories during her undergraduate time
in Alpha Omega. The time spent with her sisters stands out the
most. Some days it was full of activity from playing intramural
sports together to going on vacation. Other memories were made
simply hanging out around the house interacting throughout the day. It
was that very chapter house where she met her husband who was a Delta
Gamma houseboy at the time.
For the chapter that gave Julie so much, she wanted to repay the favor in
the best way she knew how: volunteering for the chapter advisor role. Julie
considers herself a professional volunteer so becoming chapter advisor for
Alpha Omega came easy to her. "I love to be fully involved in organizations
I'm passionate about." Julie has embraced her role at Delta Gamma with
this same passion and investment. From initiation as an undergraduate to
alumnae meetings now, Julie continues to make great memories through
the ΔΓ sisterhood. Even more than that, she continues to give back to
the chapter she has always admired.
As the chapter advisor, Julie is dedicated to the future of
Alpha Omega and the possibilities the current members have
to impact not only each other but the entire campus. What
makes Delta Gamma so unique for Julie are the women who
make up the chapter. "They are diverse, but they are also smart,
practical and driven." This uniqueness separates Delta Gamma
from other sororities on campus and is what Julie believes will
allow these women to make a significant change at Arkansas. Julie has
great plans for the Alpha Omega chapter to continue to grow as a strong
sorority and hopes her support will foster this growth.
In addition to supporting the women of Delta Gamma, Julie enjoys
staying active by walking, biking regularly or snow skiing, and in her
free time spending a day at the lake. Julie's proudest achievements are
her three children. It brings Julie joy every day to watch her children
learn and experience life. You can reach out to her to catch up via email
at jabgaddy@cox.net.

Chapter Advisor Julie Gaddy '83 Gives Back to Delta Gamma
In Case You Missed It
in the Anchora…
"I was at the University of Arkansas last week
and having some trouble wheeling up a hill.
Two of the Delta Gamma ladies helped me with
getting my wheelchair up the hill. They had their
shirts with the logo on it. I did not know how to
contact them directly. But I wanted to tell them
thank you very much for their help. I appreciated
it very much. I did not informally get their
names. Anyway, thank you for your time. Have a
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year." Signed
Chad David Parker December 2018.
