Alpha Mu News PAGE 2 I n the fall of 1974, Trentice Gooch Imbler '75 entered Ole Miss as a 17-year-old freshman who had never been away from her home longer than two weeks. Trentice had many dear friends from her hometown in other sororities, but something just kept tugging at her to do something different. "Maybe it was Dorothy and the yellow brick road, but that night I put Kappa Delta first on my preference card and as they say, the rest is history." As an undergraduate, she was pledge trainer. "at was the best! I loved getting to know the newest members of Alpha Mu and would not have known them very well if not for this opportunity. I keep up with many women from my days as pledge trainer to this day!" Aer graduation, Trentice could not stay away from Kappa Delta so she traveled as a collegiate advisor (LDC) for the sorority. "at was truly one of the best years of my life and thinking back on that time makes me proud." She is filled with the priceless memories having traveled to as many as 30 different states as LDC and has remained loyal to Alpha Mu with more than 45 years of involvement. Trentice holds a B.S. degree from Ole Miss and obtained a teacher's certificate. Aer traveling for KD, she had a brief stint recruiting for Ole Miss then decided it was time to find a new path. "I worked at my dad's State Farm insurance office and then I started my own agency. Here I am almost 39 years later!" During her time at Ole Miss, Trentice met her late husband, Chuck. "He was an active member of Sigma Chi and understood my love for the Greek community. When our youngest was only 6 months old, we found out that Chuck had colon cancer. e doctors told us Carrol Trent would never know her father, but we are fighters and believers. He lived almost 11 years up until our daughters were in the fih and 10th grade. Chuck requested a scholarship be established through the business school in his memory, and friends and family fulfilled his wish." In her spare time, Trentice is involved in her family, supporting their interests. "I love my family and anything that they are involved in is important to me." She was awarded Parent of the Year for her daughters' school district of more than students 7,100 students! She also serves on the administration council, served as chairman of the finance committee within her church, First United Methodist, and has taught children's Sunday school for more than 15 years. e family stays involved with Ole Miss and attend all home football and basketball games. Today, Trentice gets to share the beloved KD sisterhood with her oldest daughter. "It is very special that my oldest daughter, Mallie Imbler '15, pledged Kappa Delta." Trentice's youngest daughter, Car- rol Trent, will be a senior at Tupelo High School this fall. Trentice shares what she reads each morning, "I am to live faithfully a life as a good steward of this life that is entrusted to me by God! God keep me well and going and I promise to serve you each day!"
