Kappa Delta PAGE 3 A lpha Mu continues to be a leader in the Greek community and on the Ole Miss campus. Our Chapter was recently awarded the Chancellor's Cup at the Ole Miss Greek Awards. e Chancellor's Cup is awarded to the Greek chap- ter who demonstrates excellence in these five areas: academic excellence, civic engagement, personal and professional development, respect and dignity for all, and health and wellness. Alpha Mu also had the highest GPA of all Greek organizations for fall 2018 and spring 2018. Addi- tionally, 10 of our members were awarded the Tay- lor Medal, the University's highest academic award which recognizes no more than one percent of the student body each year. ese students are nomi- nated by faculty, chosen by a selection committee, and must have a GPA of least 3.90. Academic Chair- man Mimi McCarroll '17 touts, "We are proud of the determination and hard work that our sisters put toward their academics!" In addition to strong academic achievement, Alpha Mu members are very involved on campus. For the past two years, Alpha Mu has been proud that two of its members have represented Ole Miss as Home- coming Queen! Christina Lawler '14 was Ole Miss Homecoming Queen for fall 2017 and Hallie Gil- lam '15 was named Homecoming Queen for fall 2018. Also, we have several members who are mem- bers of the Ole Miss Cheer Squads and Ole Miss Rebelettes. Alpha Mu members are also involved in ASB student government and serve as Orienta- tion Leaders and Greek Ambassadors. e Chapter also won the philanthropy event, Sigma Chi Derby Days, for the tenth year in a row. Undergraduates Raise More than $60,000 for Prevent Child Abuse America In March, we hosted our annual Shamrock 'n' Roll event, with 26 Greek organizations participating. We raised over $31,000 for Prevent Child Abuse America, with 80% of the proceeds staying right here in Oxford for the Oxford Exchange Club Fam- ily Center. Our Chapter also hosted KD Quesadil- las during the fall semester and raised over $29,000 for our philanthropy. In addition to these events, we also hosted STEMinists for young ladies to fo- cus on building confidence through STEM-related activities. Vice President Community Service Brid- get McMillan '17 shares, "We performed several science experiments with the young ladies and had such a blast!" Our members also supported the Ole Miss Rebelon fundraising event in February. Our sisters were awarded first place in the medium di- vision for fundraising! Alpha Mu also worked with local Girl Scout troops throughout the year and helped them sell Girl Scout cookies on campus. Bid Day Coming Soon Kappa Delta Bid Day will be September 29 with recruitment being held at the Inn at Ole Miss. Our Shamrock 'n' Roll philanthropy event was a huge success, complete with a swing dancing competition and an ice cream bar. Many Alpha Mu sisters are on the Ole Miss Cheer team and the Rebelettes! Alpha Mu received the Chancellor's Cup at the Ole Miss Greek Awards!
