D uring the years when Alpha Tau Omega did not have its own chapter house on the University of Oklahoma campus, there were several challenges that Delta Kappa faced when it came to recruitment. Rather than dwelling on what Delta Kappa didn't have com- pared to other fraternities at OU, our brother- hood boasted about ATW's core values. Just 12 years after recolonizing in 2007, ATW is now the largest fraternity at OU with 208 members. Although the Delta Kappa undergradu- ates now have a chapter house of their own to call home, the recruitment strategy remains the same. Chapter President Hunter Frazier '17 joined ATW because of how much the men of Delta Kappa already knew about him and the interest that they had in his future. Hunter is excited to meet future Delta Kappas during the formal recruitment period and continue the chap- ter's trend of exponential growth. After a recent conversation with the president of the Fiji house, Hunter was reassured that the future of ATW at OU is bright. "He has a cousin that's coming to OU. He's a 4.0 student and he's a great kid," Hunter said. "Their president reached out to me and said, 'Hey, I ob- viously want him to rush Fiji, but I want him to keep his options open and I think that your house is fantastic. I want him to have every opportu- nity possible.' He gave me his cousin's contact info. I thought that was so cool." While all of Hunter's ATW experience has been at Delta Kappa's current chapter house, which was built in 2013, he has S ince 1921, the University of Okla- homa Alpha Tau Omega chapter has created and shaped leaders on campus, in the OU community, and beyond. Gary Pierson '78 and Joseph Harroz '86 are perfect examples of Delta Kappa alumni who have used their ATW values to ascend to top leadership positions at the University. Joe was selected as OU's Interim President in May, while Gary was named to the Univer- sity Board of Regents in April. Joe will act as the Interim President for a minimum of 15 months and will be in the running for the permanent position when se- lected by the Board of Regents. He is taking over for President James Gal- logly, who retired in April. Joe has served as the Dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Law since 2010. "I am honored to have this new opportunity to serve the institution that I love. Together, we can unite the OU family and build on our tradition of excellence to make OU better than ever," Joe said in an interview with The Norman Tran- script. "We are committed to building a far more diverse and inclusive OU. Nothing else we do will succeed unless we accomplish real change together. We have to continue building a culture of integrity and be good stewards of our resources so that we can fo- cus on our mission." Gary is looking forward to working with Joe and the Board of Regents. As a successful attorney, businessman, and dedicated Delta Kappa alumnus, Gary plans to use his exper- tise and experience to help the University be one of the top institutions in the country. "I'm grateful and humbled by the confidence Governor Stitt has shown in me by this appointment," Gary said in a press release. "While there are some near term issues that need to be resolved at OU, the future remains quite bright."
