Brotherhood Events Help Highlight Spring Semester Undergraduates Make Their Mark on Campus T he executive committee started the spring term with three goals in mind: improve brotherhood, improve our new member process, and improve alumni relations. Our first initiative of improving brotherhood was spearheaded by Chaplain Braden Lede- bur '18. Braden worked diligently to provide four brotherhood events this semester, three of which were brand-new ideas he initiated. Our first event was our annual Super Bowl watch party, which always produces good attendance. Braden also rented out the entire student sec- tion of an OU hockey game for Delta Kappa, as we came to support Josh Pusar '17 who plays on OU's hockey team. The members were able to participate in fun, between-period activities and everyone had a fantastic time. Then, Braden planned a Thunder vs. Rockets brotherhood event, which we are proud to say every ticket was claimed! Finally, Braden began a new tradi- tion for the seniors called the Senior Bar Tab. This is an opportunity for the graduating seniors to have one last moment with their pledge brothers. New Member Educator Hunter Robertson '18 developed a fantastic program with help from National Consultant Tyler Behel. As a result, we will be initiating 11 spring pledges in the fall. Finally, Delta Kappa is planning to have the largest Founder's Day event since our recharter- ing. This is a fantastic opportunity for all alumni to come and see the chapter growth we have worked very hard to achieve. We are very proud of the progress the Delta Kappa Chapter has made in each of these areas and hope to make more improvements in the coming semester. On top of this, Dean Goodrich '17 and Brody Morgan '17 took over as co-intramural chair- men and led our house to a spring intramural championship. Since our recharter, Delta Kappa had never won an intramural banner until this semester. The work of these individual mem- bers is very exciting for our chapter in terms of lasting impact on the whole organization. The Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega currently sits at 208 active members, which makes our chapter the largest IFC fraternity at the University of Oklahoma. We were blessed to have the most representation out of any fraternity at OU's campus awards ceremony with six members of Alpha Tau Omega receiving awards. Delta Kappa currently has both the Student Government Association president and vice president in Adran Gibbs Jr. '16 and Prince Ohene-Nyako '16. ATW finished third among all OU fraternities in GPA this past year, which is a great improvement in our academics from last year. Love and Respect, Hunter Frazier '17 Chapter President hunterfrazier@ou.edu The Beacon 2 Delta Kappa won the inaugural Hoops for Hearts basketball tournament that was put on by Alpha Phi and Sigma Chi. For winning the tournament, a $200 donation was made to our philanthropy, Norman Community After School Program (CASP). Brothers at the University of Oklahoma's LEAD Leader Summit on January 26, 2019. Leader Summit is a day conference with renowned speak- ers from the university, community, and nation. Students from the university were able to sign up for the conference to grow and develop their lead- ership abilities. This year, not only did we have several men attend the conference, but we also had seven ATWs on the LEAD team committee. Adran Gibbs '16 and Prince Ohene-Nyako '16 were respectively elected as the OU Student Gov- ernment Association's president and vice president. They worked very closely with recently retired OU President James Gallogly and will continue to make sure student voices are heard by OU's Interim President Joseph Harroz '86. Clark Killion '16 served as the executive vice chairman for Soonerthon, which raised more than $950,000 for Oklahoma Children's Hospital Foun- dation and Children's Miracle Networks Hospitals. Our chapter had the privilege of performing "Mr. Sandman" with the women of Delta Delta Delta at our 2019 Scandals Show. The show won Crowd Favorite, Best Choreography, Best Female Lead, and earned second place overall.
