On Feb. 12 the Planning Commission recommended approval of the document, which creates an inventory of carbon dioxide producing sources within the city and provides a framework for contractors and developers to meet future emission deductions. Future building projects would have to comply with the citys already adopted Green Building Code and plant trees to mitigate future greenhouse impacts. The other two agenda items are public works projects. The first is for a complete replacement of sewer mains located around South Main Street and Sister Mary Columba Drive. An 8-foot main in the area recently collapsed. While the city performed a temporary repair, the public works department is asking the council to advertise bids for a complete repair of the main and surrounding segments that have shown levels of concern.
