klahoma Alpha has had a long-standing tradition of
a strong Parent's Club. With the opening of the new
chapter house, this group of loyal volunteers continues to
find ways to make the chapter house a better living experience for
the men. In the fall of 2018, the Parent's Club provided funds for
two additional washer/dryer sets to complement the four provided
by the AVC.
Recently, the Parent's Club purchased tables for our two study
rooms. Now, instead of just studying in the one big room in the
chapter house, or in their rooms, the men can study in groups in
two locations dedicated solely to studying. With the fall 2018 GPA
for the house standing at 3.37, these added features helped make
a difference.
The Parent's Club also contributes by providing funds to send more
men to training sessions at Carlson Leadership Academy, as well as
Conclave. The group is aware of a central need of college men: food.
The Parent's Club finds numerous opportunities to keep the men fed
by providing meals for all-night pomp at Homecoming, finals week,
Freshman Follies one night before the show, and Varsity Revue one
night before show.
To help make the chapter house more like a home, these parents
purchased decorations and decked out the living room with
Christmas decorations. Finally, the Parent's Club, along with
Mom Valarie, actively maintain a Facebook presence to highlight
the chapter activities and any honors they may receive. Thank you,
parents! You are making a difference!
