2 MU NEWS A s the philanthropy chairman of Chi Omega my freshman year, I had the honor of planning many different events to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Additionally, I interacted with the other philanthropy chairmen within our greater Greek community and learned about their philanthropic organizations and passions. That experience inspired me to run for Panhellenic vice president of philanthropy because I love giving back to the community and wanted to help philanthropy chairmen as they faced their own challenges. I have now held this office for several months, and I love every aspect of the position and being part of the Panhellenic Council. Not only am I empowering philanthropy chairmen from different sororities, but I'm also taking part in important conversations that impact every woman in our community. This position has taught me so much about myself and our community as a whole, and I'm excited for what's to come! Loyally, Camellia Edalat '18 VP Philanthropy, PHC Executive Council SISTERS ON PURPOSE O n March 23, I had the honor of going to the 35th anniversary Make-A-Wish Gala with past Philanthropy Director Hannah Farrell '16! It was exciting to not only be at such a large event, but also to meet people who are involved with Make-A-Wish on different levels. From board members to donors who just enjoy donating to a good cause, it was inspiring to talk to those who share a genuine love for the work that Make-a-Wish does. We even got a chance to catch up with Rachel Schuster '14, who was volunteering! Hannah and I met several Wish Kids, all of whom described how having their wish granted renewed their hope that better days would soon come and made them forget their illness for a little while. Their stories of how they persevered blew me away, and I was thankful for the opportunity to connect with them. The Gala was incredible and made me feel closer to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Having Make- A-Wish as our philanthropy has always made me love Chi Omega even more, and serving as philanthropy director has been my proudest achievement as a Chi O. Seeing the difference that the wishes make made me even more excited for our last two philanthropy events this semester and inspired me to want to give back to Make-A-Wish as much as possible. I am so thankful for this opportunity and I cannot wait to become more involved! Loyally, Emily Kleinfelder '18 Director of Community Service HIGH PURPOSE AND HELPFULNESS Rachel Schuster '14, Hannah Farrell '16, and Emily Kleinfelder '18. INSPIRING SISTERHOODS ACROSS CAMPUS PROMOTING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT A s risk manager of Chi Omega, my main goal is to ensure the safety of my sisters—providing resources for them to make educated decisions in their daily lives, and to ensure they have support in situations where they need help. I organize educational presentations to empower and enable women to make their own smart decisions in high-risk situations. I coordinate a safety net of sisters to watch out for everyone at events on and off campus, and am a point of contact and support for anyone who needs help. I've also enforced rules this year and communicated the responsibility of being an active bystander, hopefully passing on the importance of being there for your sisters. Our chapter has already received presentations from "Every Bear Goes Home" and "Greeks Against Sexual Assault," and we look forward to focusing on community development and health within our own chapter. Loyally, Georgia Wood '18, Risk Manager
