C oming to OSU because of its nationally top-rat- ed accounting program, Kevin White '79 "knew nothing at all" about fraternities. He was intro- duced to Delta Tau Delta by a member who was the nephew of "the local municipal traffic judge, whom I knew well thanks to quite a few speeding tickets." Luckily, that potentially awkward connection led to a lifetime of brotherhood for Kevin. He says it is impossible to narrow down his favorite memories of his Delt days but recalls the incredible camaraderie that encompassed all aspects of mem- bership in Delta Chi Chapter. Kevin served the chapter as treasurer and two terms as president while earning his degree. He is grate- ful for the alumni on the housing corporation board for generously donating their time and effort to the undergraduates, making for a supportive environment to learn and grow. "I credit my experience at the fraternity for setting a good educa- tional, social, and professional foundation that has benefited me immeasurably." Surprised at how little the Shelter has changed over the last four decades, Kevin cites other fraternities at OSU that have made significant improvements to their facilities or built new homes over the last sev- eral years. He says, "It is obvious that for the Delts to effectively compete on housing criteria alone, a new Shelter is necessary." His donation to the Pledge Delt Again campaign will enable the fraternity to provide up-to-date living accommodations, which are neces- sary to attract quality members. Kevin entered the oil and gas industry in 1983—due to an opportunity presented by another Delt mem- ber—and is CFO of BCE – Mach LLC/Mach Resources LLC. He lives in Oklahoma City and can be reached at kevinrwhite@mac.com. Kevin White '79 Is Proud to Contribute for the Future of Delta Chi Chapter Matt Waits '99 Calls Upon Delt Alumni to Support Capital Campaign A s a Stillwater High School student, Matt Waits '99 was a big OSU fan, so decid- ing on a college was a no-brainer. And choosing a fraternity home was also an easy decision. He says, "At that time (1995) there was a very strong Stillwater High pipeline into the Delt house, and I signed along with 10-12 other Stillwater guys." Delta Chi Chapter provided Matt with the best environment for him to learn leadership skills, among many others, that would benefit him long aer graduation. "e fraternity environment is built on collaboration and teamwork and therefore provides an opportunity for young men to discov- er if they have the necessary qualities for leadership. I didn't come into the house with any ambition to lead but wound up as the president, managing a budget of ~$300,000 and providing direction to 60-70 guys that didn't always see things the same way. It was challenging but rewarding and set me up well to enter the business world." Today, Matt is CEO of the Americas Region for Proagrica. His father founded precision agriculture company SST Soware, and Matt started working there in 1999. He became the CEO in 2012 and in 2018 sold the business to Proagrica, a London, UK-based data and analytics business. Proud of his Delt membership and grateful to the fraternity, Matt has made a significant contribution to the Pledge Delt Again campaign. "e chapter was impactful in my personal development, and I am fortunate to be in a position to give back, so I wanted to do my part." He urges all brothers to also make a commitment to the future of Delta Chi Chapter. "[For the fraternity] to remain relevant, it is imperative that this project succeed. I understand that many brothers have lost the emotional connection to the chapter, but I ask them to reflect on the importance that it once held in their lives, the lifelong friendships it helped forge, and the ways it positively shaped their development into men." Matt is grateful for the guidance of alumni who supported the chapter during his undergraduate years, including chapter advisors Tom Williams '72 and Ival Gregory '72 and Dan Loving '72, who still devotes his time to the organization and "deserves a big thank-you from all of us." e active chapter is making a great comeback, and it is "now our time to provide the Delt experience for the next generation." Matt lives in Stillwater with his wife, Kristine, and their three children, Sam, Katherine, and Isaac. He is a private pilot and owns a Piper M350 Malibu. Matt can be contacted at matt.waits@proagrica.com. Pledge Delt Again
