alumni.oxepsilon.org Greek Alumni Council Recognizes Theta Chi e Greek Alumni Council awards was a great success for the Chapter as we received two honors. First, we won the Alumni Relations award, which is presented to the fraternity or sorority that has the best programming to foster a great relationship with alumni. is includes hosting alumni events and other activities that welcomes alumni back to the Chapter to stay engaged with the fraternity. Our Chapter has exemplified the value and excellence of a strong alumni relations program. We organize alumni dinners every month where the undergraduates inform alumni about the current state of the house and where alumni offer advice and stories about the house in the past, as well as general life advice. Also, this year was the 110th Anniversary of the Chapter, which saw a large number of alumni return to celebrate and reunite with friends. We also have a wide variety of alumni events, including golf, bowling, and poker. One of the most popular events at the house is Career Night where undergraduates are offered mock interviews by experienced alumni and receive resume critiques. Furthermore, we've had a very successful Homecoming this past year as well as focused events such as eta Chi Top Chef. e second award that eta Chi Epsilon received was for Educational Programming. is award is presented to the chapter with the best educational incentives, programs, and results. e house has seen grades rise over the past few years due to various initiatives. e mentor program has been remarkably effective. is program pairs an academically challenged brother with a brother who is doing well within the same major. Active mentoring throughout the term with regular weekly check-ins to make sure the term is going smoothly yielded positive results. is enabled brothers to reach out to their mentors to help tackle difficult problems and strive for academic achievement. Our academic incentives motivated brothers to do as well as possible at school so that they could win prizes during meetings and be called out for excellent academic standing. Overall, the chapter is highly pleased with our performance this year. We look forward to striving for excellence in a number of key areas and earning further recognition from the Greek Alumni Council and others in the coming years. However, by participating in this wonderful event, it was obvious that the Chapter's pitiful supply of residential kitchen utensils and mismatched service items are embarrassingly inadequate for the proud home of our fraternity. In response, Ernie made a generous donation and an additional matching offer to help replenish our kitchen with commercial-grade utensils and service items. He offered to match donations to e Kitchen Fund, dollar for dollar, up to $500! In response, several alumni made donations to the fund, inspired by Ernie's offer. We raised a total of $3,475 to replenish the eta Chi kitchen! All proceeds will only be spent on outfitting our kitchen. Any overage will be maintained for future needs as they inevitably arise. e current kitchen manager, Noah Parker '20, (nparker@wpi.edu), has been busy scouring the internet for the best service items for eta Chi. He has assembled a working spreadsheet to help refine our final choices for purchase this summer. My sincere thanks to Ernie for making such a thoughtful and generous offer to help our beloved eta Chi grow and prosper! Many thanks also to all those who contributed to e Kitchen Fund.
