alumni.oxepsilon.org Career Networking at Theta Chi e 2019 Career Night was very successful and insightful for our undergraduates at Epsilon Chapter. After dinner, brothers heard from a panel of 10 alumni, ranging from recent graduates to graduates from the '80s and Maggie Becker, who worked for the Student Career Development Center for 10 years. Shawn Ayube '99 introduced each of the panel members and asked them to share their career path. en, the focus of the panel steered toward internships, interviews, resumes, and applications. Questions from the undergraduates followed after an hour of expert knowledge was shared. e panel members also broke out for individual sessions with the undergraduates. Maggie Becker and some alumni ran a resume critique session to edit resumes for a professional appearance and to appeal to specific jobs the students were looking for. Other alumni ran mock interview sessions. During the mock interviews, they conducted an in-person interview for a job that related to the student's technical background, giving key pointers along the way as well as specific mannerisms to keep in mind. Improvements in these skills have set up our active brothers for early success. anks to recent scholarship chairman, Jordan Pickunka '20, for organizing the event and special thanks to the following alumni and guests for participating in this year's event: Shawn Ayube '99 Andrew Bartley '09 Maggie Becker Joe Gugliemino '83 Neil Lettenberger '07 Sean Maki '94 Nick Marcoux '06 John Marczewski '85 James Melvin '85 JP Ramos '18 Fraternally, Connor Buek '21 Scholarship Chairman Epsilon Building Association Financials Mortgage: • Principle Balance: $578K (after pending refinance) • Monthly Payment: $4,644 • Interest Rate: 5.25% Chapter Rent: • $38K/quarter or $76K/semester or $152K/year Major Projects: • $200K - Complete siding replacement At the 110th Anniversary, the Epsilon Building Association (EBA) announced it adopted a new organizational structure at of the start of the 2018-19 WPI academic year. e new design was inspired by successful corporation structures at other eta Chi chapters with needs and goals similar to Epsilon's: grow the alumni association to better serve the alumni network, the active Chapter members, and the physical Chapter House. e new structure consists of three operational committees to manage each of these focus areas, and an executive committee (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, etc.) tasked with governance of the corporation. is is in contrast to the prior structure where a single executive committee managed all facets of the corporation. e new structure gives each committee's chairman decision-making power in their respective area, and it enables the EBA to operate with significantly greater bandwidth. Hopefully, you've started to notice the increase in programming and events for alumni and undergraduates, and this will only improve over the coming months and years. For your convenience, the committee chairmen and executive committee president are listed below, but there are many hard-working individuals operating within each of the committees, and many more needed to help! Please contact one of the men below if you are interested in joining or finding out more. Most of the help needed is simply devoting a few hours a year to support or organize a single activity/project. Roles with greater responsibility exist as well.
