KAPPA ALPHA THETA 3 H ow do you remember and recognize a Theta pledge sister who passed away? Many alumnae have found that the ideal way is to give to the Alpha Chi Chapter Educational Foundation to support scholarships to younger sisters. Most of the scholarships given to undergraduates are given "in memory" or "in honor" of other Thetas. The 2019 scholarships are no exception, with grants being made in memory of Juliane Kraay Ziegert '64 and in memory of June Bode Dorman '52 by her husband and daughter. In addition, scholarships were awarded in honor of Kris Sheets, Beta Xi '75, from UCLA, by her aunt Mary Ellen Totten-Lovell '50, and in honor of Alpha Chi Chapter with funds generated and donated by the chapter. We were saddened to learn of the recent death of Carolyn Norman Hibbeln '59. Her classmates are working together to support her legacy with a scholarship, as are the friends of Marilynn Dammon '65, whose husband, Jim, recently passed away. Jim was a big supporter of Alpha Chi Chapter, creating the website and computer-generated publications such as the Centennial Journal. Other Thetas have generously set up "named" endowments, guaranteeing that scholarship funds will be available in years to come. We will be able to grant our first named endowment scholarship next year. Our most recently established named endowment is the Mary Lincoln Campbell Endowment, donated by The Campbell Fund. We encourage you to support the Educational Foundation in whatever manner works best for you. Perhaps you want to send a check or stock or include the Foundation in your planned giving. You can be assured your donation will impact the lives of the younger Thetas living at 607 North Russell Street. No donation is too large or too small! Please contact me with any questions at (765) 714-1845 or send donations to: P.O. Box 3754, West Lafayette, IN 47996. Donations are tax deductible since the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. Also, don't forget to register with AmazonSmile so that Amazon can donate to our charitable organization based on the purchases you make.
