Summer is approaching and that means a busy time for Chapter House Corporation during our summer break! is summer, we have many projects in the works. rough our amazing alumnae, we have raised most of the money we need to pay for individual air- conditioning units in each bedroom, hallway and the third floor recreation room. We are going to get the entire project accomplished this summer because it is so vital to everyone's comfort and well-being! It's not too late to donate to the AC project and our other important summer improvements! is will be a big project this summer with opening walls, connecting the units to the existing fire sprinkler system, and then putting the house back together again. ank you for all who have contributed to this project! e women are grateful and so happy that they can regulate their rooms — no more sweaters needed on one side of the house while the sunny side wore shorts and t-shirts! Another big project we are working on this summer is faster internet that will be upgraded before school starts in the fall. With more and more people relying on internet for homework and streaming videos, this has been an ongoing commitment to fix this problem. Because TVs are not in each room and streaming is the norm, we have been battling very slow internet service. We are working through our internet provider, USC, and our private internet guru to find the best solution to our internet issues. Fingers crossed! In the last couple of months, we have installed state-of-the-art cameras and replaced our fingerprint fob for both the back and front door access. is will allow our new equipment and cameras to be more efficient and easier to view. Our fingerprint reader and new computer can now easily delete or add new members as needed. We have also installed sensor lights around our property for better safety for our members. e first spring recruitment was a successful one with 44 New Members! Take time this spring to enjoy the super blooms after our very wet winter. e sunshine feels great and sometimes, we all need to stop and smell the roses! TRADITION. SUPPORT. FRIENDSHIP. Q&A with California Gamma Alumna Jennifer Stephens Acree '89 A wife, mother, entrepreneur, and a beloved Pi Phi sister, Jennifer Stephens Acree '89 truly does it all. From tech start- ups to being a good role model for her daughter to taking trips every year with her California Gamma sisters, meet one of our own who is as down-to-earth as she is empowering. WHY PI BETA PHI? When I went through recruitment at USC, the women I met at Pi Phi were some of the most down-to- earth people that I met through the process. e conversations I had during that time were authentic and I seemed to connect with them more than some of the other houses. IN A NUTSHELL, TELL ME A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF. Before founding JSA Strategies more than 10 years ago, I was the VP of Corporate Communications at Yahoo, with oversight for Yahoo's category-leading consumer web products. I've also worked at a tech start-up, large global PR firm and got my start on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., working as a legislative aide. WHAT IS IT LIKE TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNGER SISTERS? I LOVE hiring USC Annenberg students (both full-time and interns) and have had two Cal Gamma interns. First, they are both amazing people, hard-working, and smart. It's also fun to hear about the house and what's going on at school. Last year, I was the guest speaker for the Pi Phi Scholarship dinner and it was great to meet some of the current members who were all so impressive. WHAT'S MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR CURRENT ROLE? MOST CHALLENGING? e most rewarding part of my job is helping clients execute their business goals. I love working with founders and startups doing really interesting things. Being able to have an impact on their success as a business is really rewarding. e most challenging is (Continued on page 2)
