Delta Gamma page 3 KAPPA ADVISORS LEAD S erving on the Advisory Board was an obvious step for Sarah Smoot '14. She recognized the need for more advisors, especially for the VP Foundation position. "Although I just graduated this past May, I knew that I had the experience, knowledge, and time to help the women of Beta Kappa grow and strengthen the position." Sarah considers Delta Gamma as the best sorority because of the diversity of the sisterhood. "We have women who are unique, yet we all share the same set of values to 'Do Good' in the world. No matter our differences, we come together to make a positive difference." Sarah's favorite undergraduate memory was her own initiation ceremony. "I have never truly experienced the power of sisterhood until my own initiation. When I was initiated, both my mom and stepmom were in attendance. It was such a blessing to have both present. They have supported me throughout my entire ΔΓ journey." Although Sarah admits her current hobby is Delta Gamma, coming in at second place is taking care of her puppies, Sadie and Bailey, and running their Instagram. "I love taking photos of them and showing off how cute they are." You can follow their Instagram at sweeter_than_sadie or connect with Sarah via email at smoot.sarah.a@gmail.com. Sarah Smoot '14: Foundation Advisor A s a Delta Gamma initiate at the University of Nevada, Brooke Gurley, Eta Iota '10 felt a strong desire to stay connected to our sorority. "I have moved many times since I graduated and desired to still be active. When I saw that Beta Kappa was in need of an advisor, I jumped at the opportunity to be involved." Brooke holds Delta Gamma in the highest regard, due to the members diverse backgrounds and amazing philanthropy. Brooke's memorable moment as an undergraduate was the weekend with her sisters at Lake Tahoe, camping and conducting initiation for new members. When Brooke is not working or advising, she plays roller derby for the Kansa City Roller Warriors. Connect with Brooke via email at anggurley@hotmail.com. Brooke Gurley, Eta Iota '10: Chapter Operations Advisor A na Galizia, Beta Epsilon '15 was initiated at American University in Washington, D.C. She recently moved to Kansas City, Mo., and became involved with the Delta Gamma to meet people in the area. "Advisory Team Chairman Madi Boldt '13 asked me join the team and I accepted because I loved my ΔΓ experience and wanted to give back to the organization." Ana knows Delta Gammas work hard but know how to relax and enjoy time with friends: it's the best of both worlds. "During my recruitment process, I realized ΔΓ was the best sorority for me upon meeting women reflective of the woman I wanted to be in the future. Everyone had amazing internships, worked multiple jobs, and had great GPAs." Anchor Splash is one of Ana's favorite undergraduate memories. "At Beta Epsilon Chapter, when you're a senior, the whole class meets for brunch before heading for the event. That was one of the best moments as a ΔΓ, spending time with the whole class one last time before graduating." Another favorite memory was meeting up with one of her sisters while studying abroad. "It was nice to see a familiar face while I was so far from home!" New to the running world, Ana just ran her first half marathon. Connect with Ana via email at anagaliziaruiz@gmail.com.
