THE TOMAHAWK Alpha Mu Chapter 2 Is Theta Chi in Your Estate Plans? B y including Alpha Mu Chapter of Theta Chi in the final disposition of your estate, you declare to your family and friends that you believe in and care about our mission Your parting gift becomes a clear declaration of your values Estate gifts are especially valuable to both the donor and the fraternity, providing valuable tax benefits to the donor and much- needed support for the undergraduate members Estate gifts can be designated for a specific purpose or they can be unrestricted for use where needed most By making us aware of your estate plans, you become a member of the Brotherhood Society, our donor recognition group (we will respect any requests for anonymity) A well-planned estate gift often influences others to "go and do likewise" For more information on planned giving, contact Jon Fleming at mrjfcy@aol.com. A s I sat down to write this article, I was struck by the thought that April marks 50 years since I first had contact with Theta Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University As a high school senior planning to attend ISU, I received letters from several fraternities inviting me to visit during Greek Week I don't remember why I chose to stay at the Theta Chi house, but I have never regretted my decision When I arrived for the weekend, Dennis Kelley '69 met me at the front door He gave me a tour of the house and discussed fraternity life with me I remember being impressed that an upperclassman would take the time to show me around Kevin Stalter '72 also took his time to visit with me and talk about fraternity life I also met several other brothers that weekend and I came away thinking I could enjoy living in the Theta Chi house Fifty years later, I still feel like I have a connection to the university through Theta Chi The house I visited all those years ago tragically no longer exists, yet I still feel at home every time I visit for a board meeting or other gathering at the new house I attended the 50-year anniversary celebration as an undergraduate and the 75-year anniversary celebration as an alumni board member The board is now planning the 100-year celebration and I hope to be present then as well You will be informed of the plans in future Tomahawks and I hope we have a great turnout Fraternally, Ted Hovda '73 Alumni Corporation Board President tshovda@comm1netnet Treasured Time Alpha Mu Nears Centennial Celebration Alumni Corporation Board President Ted Hovda '73 | Garner, Iowa Re-elected – Congratulations, Ted!
