Free electronic waste collection event The Tehama County Sanitary Landfill Agency will conduct a free Electronic Waste Collection event from 8 a.m. to noon today. Collections will be at the following locations: Red Bluff - Tehama County Department of Social Services at 310 South Main St.; Corning - Park and Ride Commuter Parking Lot, northeast corner of Third and Solano Streets Televisions, computer monitors and equipment, microwaves, DVD/VCR players, cell phones, and other small electronic waste (ewaste) will be accepted free of charge during the event. Deadline for Invasive Plant Workshop extended The deadline to RSVP for the Tehama County Resource Conservation District���s short workshop on invasive plants in Cottonwood Creek has been extended. The workshop will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Evergreen Middle School Library. Workshop topics will include general information about non-native, invasive plants, the types of invasive plants found in and around Cottonwood Creek, efforts that are being made to remove and manage invasive plants on the south fork of the creek, and ways in which landowners can manage the weedy plants on their own properties. The district asks that anyone who is interested in attending the workshop RSVP by Feb. 26. Immigration information session scheduled Northern Valley Catholic Social Service (NVCSS) has invited the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to come to Corning for an information session 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 25. NVCSS and USCIS invites the public to attend a community meeting to facilitate a dialogue between our local community, USCIS, and the General Consulate of Mexico. Please come prepared to ask your general questions. NVCSS wants to hear from the community on the challenges and issues that you have been facing. Snow Grooming Report Almanor Ranger District: The Morgan Summit routes received about 8-9" of new snow, and trails are in great condition. There are plans to groom about five miles in the McGowan cross-country ski area on Feb. 22, as follows: Church Camp Trail, 2.5 miles; Christie Hill Trail, 1.5 miles; and the (main) Dry Lake Trail, 1 mile. Eagle Lake Ranger District: The higher trail systems received 68" of new snow. Trails should be in good shape for the weekend. Grooming for cross-country skiing Police reports The following information is compiled from Red Bluff Police Department, Tehama County Sheriff���s Department, Corning Police Department and California Highway Patrol. Latour had severe drifting on the Rim and Huckleberry roads, 4-5��� drifts for approximately 1/4 mile in a couple of areas ��� so be cautious in areas where we have not gotten to as of this report. A-1 thru A-5, A-9-10, and L-1 thru L-5 are all groomed. Watch for hazard areas in Latour, ditch lines, and creek crossings, as well as severe drifting in areas facing open to the east and south. Theft ��� The Tehama County Department of Education reported stolen a 2-way radio from an unlocked bus on Diamond Avenue. ��� Someone on Manzanillo Lane reported Thursday the theft of several radiators from vehicles.
