10.75" THE THETA UPDATE 2 H T o start the spring semester, our chapter celebrated the 149th Founders Day by inviting alumnae back to the facility for brunch and a ceremo- ny. Later that evening, we held an event for spring recruitment and extended bids to 13 new members shortly thereafter. On February 16, we held our philanthropy dinner and tournament to raise funds and awareness for Heart of Missouri CASA and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. Our dinner for CASA Carnival featured corn dogs, piz- za, popcorn, cotton candy, cookies, and other carnival-themed treats. We even had members making balloon animals and providing face painting! For the second year, we held a Capture the Kite tournament, in which six teams participated. This spring we participated in Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis, a cam- pus event in which student organizations, including Greek chapters, com- pete in various events such as a 5K, dance competition, and trivia night to raise money and awareness for the MS Institute. Additionally, we partici- pated in Greek Week alongside the men of Alpha Tau Omega. A short ceremony and reception were held at the chapter house. Mizzou 39, hosted by the Alumni Association Student Board, recognizes undergraduate students for their academic achievement, leadership, and service to Mizzou and the community. Julia Wopata '15, Mackenzie Stout '15, Jane Nelson '16, Jane Kielhofner '15, and Anna Kouba '16 were recognized as 2019 honorees. Jessie Myer '18, Natalie Gray '17, Sydney Moran '17, and Madeline Heck '17 coached teams of fraternities that participated in our Capture the Kite tournament.
