PAGE 2 TAU TALK I n the last Tau Talk, Bill Burke '74 summarized the goals he, Bill Gardiner '52, Dale Weber '28, and a small group of brothers defined several years ago to set the chapter on a course for success. The progress on those goals has been outstanding with the creation of a strong financial base and development of a scholarship program that rewards chapter members for strong scholastic and collegiate success. Thank you to all the Gamma Upsilon brothers who have contributed time, talent, and financial support to make these goals a reality. We now have the opportunity and responsibility to continue this legacy so that future Gamma Upsilon brothers can have a valued, life-changing experience that will prepare them for a successful life and career. As we enter the next phase of our chapter legacy, Bill Burke has decided to move on to focus on retirement and his family. The contributions of his time, talent, and financial support of the chapter over the years have been extraordinary. It is my honor to step in as the brother who will oversee the scholarship program and fundraising going forward. I am a strong believer and supporter of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter and experience. I look forward to working with the Corporation Board, chapter, and alumni to continue the great work that is currently being done by building a strong scholarship and chapter financial foundation and ensuring scholarships are awarded based on strong academic, chapter, and collegiate performance. As you can see from the other articles in Tau Talk, the chapter is very strong and excels in many areas. The scholastic performance of the chapter continues to be very strong as well. Based on that strength and spring 2018 semester achievements, 27 scholarships totaling $27,000 were awarded in December 2018 to a group of deserving brothers. As a group, the average GPA was 3.50. Please see the list of the scholarship winners, their majors, and scholarship benefactors on the right. Congratulations to all the scholarship award winners and thanks to current and past donors for your support of the scholarship program.
