PAge 5 Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Gamma D elta Gamma at the University of Arkansas has continued to grow and thrive over the past few months. Toward the end of the fall semester, we selected 84 women to live in our house that will open its doors in the fall of 2019, and they couldn't be more excited! Over the past few weeks, our chapter management team has had the opportunity to attend Delta Gamma-sponsored leadership trainings, which has provided our chapter leaders with the capability and confidence to lead a chapter of nearly 400 women. Our fall 2018 chapter GPA was a 3.233. We are currently ranked 15th out of 33 among the other members of the Greek community. We had over 150 members get a 3.5 GPA and above, which was a significant increase from previous semesters. Here is what our director of scholarship, Cara Coffman '17, has to say on our continued growth in education: "We have more women earning a 3.5+ GPA and applying for more internships, study abroad and leadership positions than ever before. We hope to continue that momentum as we settle into our new house and establish ourselves more, not just in the Greek community, but in the U of A community as a whole." Over this semester we've gotten more hands-on in our community and donated over 800 Valentine's Day cards to our local VA center. Our vp: Foundation, Shae Look '17, said: "It was such a heartwarming experience to know that it was now our turn to make their days after all they have done for our country." Our chapter continues to go above and beyond with their philanthropic work and we can't wait to continue to make an impact in our community. This spring, our chapter participated in spring recruitment. We extended 10 bids to the spring 2019 class after meeting with them over coffee and having wonderful and intentional conversations. To ensure we are prepared for recruitment in the fall, we have recruitment practices every Monday after chapter. Our recruitment team is hard at work preparing for the fall in our new house! Over the past few weeks, members of our chapter management team have attended different leadership conferences around the U.S. Our chapter management team went to Regional Training in Atlanta, Ga., with other Delta Gamma chapters from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and South Carolina. We learned so much from the other chapters and have taken things back to our chapter to inspire our members. I had the pleasure of attending the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values conference in Indianapolis. At this conference, I got to network with different Greek life leaders from across the nation. The weekend of March 1, 2019, we hosted our third Founders Day event since recolonizing at the University of Arkansas. Our guest speaker, Wendy Adams Faust, Epsilon - Ohio State '80, currently serves as the director of new chapter development. Wendy reflected on the history of our chapter and the love our alumnae have poured into it. Without Wendy and our supportive alumnae, our chapter would not be as successful as it is. We are so grateful for their continued support! In the Greek community, we are continuing to make strides in different competitions throughout the year. The weekend of March 1, 2019, we performed in Greek Sing and were paired with Phi Gamma Delta and Phi Iota Alpha. We are currently competing in basketball intramurals. Here's what our director of intramurals, Helen Bayliss '17, had to say: "Our basketball intramural team is currently competing in playoffs! The chapter's support for intramurals has grown and our participation for each sport continues to cultivate. We can't wait to see what the future holds!" Our chapter has continued to grow and prosper through the past few years since reestablishing. We continue to put our name out there throughout the University of Arkansas campus and the Fayetteville community. Our chapter management team has learned so much from the trainings this spring and is prepared to lead the chapter with passion and integrity. We can't wait to see what the next year holds for Alpha Omega!
