GAMMA PHI BETA 3 29 4.0s and a Strong Freshman Member Class Sigma Chapter Continues to Show Leadership on Campus O ur 2019 spring semester has started off strong! We had members put on a great show in Rock Chalk Revue, we recognized the academic success of our members, and we had members representing our chapter positively in community service. As we enter the last couple of months in the school year, we are focused on building a strong sisterhood and growing as a chapter! Celebrating Sigma's Academic Achievements We had a fantastic scholarship dinner because of the significant improvements we made in our GPA last semester. As a chapter, we raised our GPA by .04 points, which is the largest increase of any other sorority. In addition, our freshman member class has raised the bar for our entire chapter by having 11 4.0s, and a majority had GPAs above our chapter's average. Heavy Involvement on Campus and in the Community Our women continue to be involved in a wide variety of organizations on campus. They are members of on-campus clubs such as Natural Ties, KU Best Buddies, the business fraternity Beta Alpha Psi, the Pre-OT club, Pre-Nursing club, STUMO, KU Women in Business club, and much more. Along with our involvement on campus, this April we will participate in a community service event at Kennedy Elementary's Book Fair. While Sigma participates in community service events as a chapter, many women also volunteer for the Lawrence Humane Society, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and at Kennedy Elementary School on a regular basis. Rockin' Rock Chalk Revue This semester we were a part of the 70th annual production of Rock Chalk Revue with Beta Theta Pi. We were hard at work from January- March putting our show "Forecast Frenzy" together. Directors Emalee Crosser '15 and Anna Schmeeckle '15 had been bringing the show to life since August. It was so much fun! We are excited to see what the rest of the semester has to offer. We are especially looking forward to our philanthropy event, Moonball, on April 28. We are also eager to participate in the Girls on the Run (our national philanthropy) 5K run on May 4 and our senior ceremony on May 6; we hope to see alumnae there!
