2 Sigma Kappa MOONLIGHT MARTINIS In February, Beta Tau supported Moonlight and Martinis, a mas- querade-themed semi-formal event benefiting AlzPlace, an Elder Care program in Alachua County. PROJECT MAKEOVER In February, the collegiate sisters supported Project Makeover, where they raised funds and worked on renovations for Lake For- est Elementary School in Alachua County. We're also proud to announce that Beta Tau members have held several leadership po- sitions within this worthy organization! THE BIG EVENT In March, Beta Tau undergraduates participated in UF's inaugural Big Event! The Big Event is a nationwide service movement that was brought to UF for the first time this year. The aim is to get UF students involved in a citywide day of service to build a better Gainesville. Beta Tau is always looking for alumnae that want to give back to Alachua County and volunteer with the active members. Please reach out to the VP of alumnae relations at betatau.alum@gmail. com for more information. Contact betatau.alum@gmail.com for volunteer opportunities for active members. Meet Our Alumnae Volunteers! Jennifer Grinnan Lyons '04 Current position: Advisor to vice president of alumnae rela- tions. How long have you been serving as a volunteer?: More than 10 years; first year as VPAR advisor. Why do you volunteer? Volunteering has always been mutu- ally beneficial for me. I aim to help others grow as leaders and consider how to shape their messages to their members, teams, or peers. I learn and grow so much in the process, too. We share ideas, strategies, successes, and opportunities for improvement. It's incredible to see women come into their own while I reflect on self-improvement, also! Fun facts • I came to Gainesville for UF and never left. • I build cool things in Gainesville. • My family includes my husband, Derek, and my 15-month- old, Mark. Brittany Fining '09 Current Position: Advisory Board supervisor. I advise the presi- dent and manage the advisory board. How long have you been serving as a volunteer?: Three years. This is my first year as Advisory Board supervisor. Why do you volunteer? I volunteer to give back to the organi- zation that most shaped me as a young woman and young pro- fessional. Fun facts • I'm a dog Mom to Morgan (7) and Macey (2). • I recently transitioned from working in education to social services. • I'm passionate about mentoring/developing young women as leaders and professionals. • My favorite ΣΚ memory as an alumna is participating in my little sister's initiation in fall 2016.
