Spring 2019 S I G M A P H I E P S I L O N AT C O L O R A D O S C H O O L O F M I N E S THE STOPE Onward and Upward ACTIVE MEMBERS AND AVC CELEBRATE CONTINUED SUCCESS AT MINES A s we near the completion of another academic year at the Colorado School of Mines, I am proud to report on the continued success of our undergraduate Chapter. One of the most notable accomplishments being their retention as num- ber one among all Greek organizations for grades. In past years, my own class included, this was not something we particularly aspired to achieve, and now it has become routine for them to not just be the top fraternity for academics but also to outmatch Mines' sororities––it is truly an impressive feat! The AVC encour- age members to push higher and be better, and we like to celebrate when they succeed. Our most recent event included a weekend barbecue at the Chapter House where we congratulated and cele- brated their fall semester's performance. Undergraduates are also involved in leadership positions across campus, compete in intramurals, and find time to socialize. This is all made possible through their continued efforts to re- cruitment quality men. Membership has been more than 60 strong for some time, and each fall, incoming members con- tinue to contribute to the Chapter's goals and achievements. As with any chapter, there is always new challenges to face. The AVC's responsibility for mentoring and oversight of the Chap- ter are ever-present, and we are fortunate to have such a quali- ty group of young men. Our efforts are aimed toward Chapter House improvements, and while the Chapter continues to succeed on campus, the house continues to age. This summer the AVC is looking to replace the dining room tables and chairs as well as possibly renovate the study room. Boiler repairs, new kitchen equipment, and upgrading windows and doors are some of our to- do list items so we can ensure the house's physical infrastructure matches the same quality of our undergraduates at Mines. It is an exciting time to be a SigEp at Mines, and we look forward to another great school year as we continue our tradition of excel- lence on campus. As always, if you're back in town for whatever reason, it is always great to catch up so please reach out to the AVC if you would like to connect. There are plenty of reasons to keep in touch, and we hope you find your motivation to stay involved with Colorado Delta. Fraternally, Eric Wilson '94 AVC President eric.wilson@thecpigroup.net Undergraduates during an AVC-sponsored barbecue this spring in celebration of their continued academic success.
