Sisters for St. Jude St. Jude Children's Research Hospital contin- ues to hold a special place in all of our hearts. We held our first philanthropic event, Sincerely Yours, at the beginning of this semester. This is our annual letter-writing campaign where mem- bers ask friends and family to donate to St. Jude. Many members, myself included, will travel to Memphis, Tennessee, to visit the St. Jude Hos- pital. This is an incredible opportunity for ev- eryone to see firsthand the results of our fund- raising efforts. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to serve Delta Xi and look forward to everything in store for this year. Thank you to all of our alumnae for your continued support of the chapter. You are always welcome home at 901 Richmond. MU RECRUITMENT IS MORE COMPETITIVE THAN EVER Alumnae Support Is Needed for Outstanding Recs R ecruitment at the University of Missouri continues to be as competitive as ever! The total number of women participating in primary recruitment has leveled out over the past few years with pledge classes being in the low 60s. This is significantly less than the peak four years ago when we saw our quota in the low 90s. In prior communications, we have stressed the critical economic importance of keeping our chapter house full. This obviously requires that we maximize our active membership. Tri Delta's Executive Office, as well as the University of Missouri PHA, recommends that we participate in spring informal recruitment in order to keep our chapter at the PHA chapter total allotment. Thirteen of the 15 PHA sorority chapters at Missouri participated in informal recruitment in spring 2019. With that background, Tri Delta also participated in informal recruitment, and was able to pledge seven new outstanding members. These informal recruitment/COB members kept us at the allotted PHA chapter total. As we look to the future and make plans for keeping Tri Delta at Mizzou a top recruiting chapter, I think there are essentially two issues to address. First, we need to have all components of our programming for recruitment running as effectively as possible. We are doing this by building a strong recruitment advisory team, and starting preparations in January for primary recruitment in the fall immediately after election of new officers. Secondly, our chapter house facility needs to stay competitive with other sororities. To be frank, the gap is widening with all the tear downs and major renovations happening at other sororities all over Greek town. We will need the help of every Delta Xi to keep Tri Delta the amazing chapter it is at Ol' Mizzou! Loyally, Heidi Riemann Miles '80, Delta Xi Recruitment Advisor • heidimiles@me.com P.S.
