Well, the ladies have been gathering the 1st Tuesday of the month for lunch at various local restaurants ever since. The ladies order off the menu and share a little bit about themselves or current events. It's been a great way for newcomers to meet oth- ers. Tuesday, MAY 7th the Ladies Lunch will again be held at Grub- stake Grill at noon. The Grubstake is located at 725 N. Central (Hwy. 95), Quartzsite. It was an outstanding evening of music with great attendance. The show began at sunset and continued under the stars on a perfectly calm and balmy April evening. In total they raised $400 to help send Quartzsite youngsters to Prescott Pines Summer Camp. Many thanks to all the friends and audience who donated so generously and to the musicians who gave their time and talent for the cause! Onstage together that evening were members of four Quartzsite bands: Joe & Bonnie (vocals & guitars), Judy Bagley (vocals & guitar), and Ray Carroll (drums) of the Moon Mtn Gang; Bill Murphy (vocals & lead gui- tar), Mike Buckley (vocals & guitar) of The Murphy's Barn Houseband and Jan Keronik (bass) of The Travelers and Murphy's Barn Band; also Bob Wise (rhythm & lead guitar) of the Rockit Band. The event is this year's fi rst large donor to the summer camp fund, an- nually spearheaded by the First Baptist Church. Prescott Pines is a non- denominational Christian summer camp and any child can attend. It is hoped other community organizations will match or top the $400 dona- tion from the 5 Star Event. Last year 14 children went to camp as a result of donations through the church and other groups. The fee for each child to attend the one week camp is $150 all inclusive.
