"We also garner the support of Fayetteville State University and the Cumberland County Public Library for these visiting artists, and more," Mims said. "ese are winning partnerships." Both the library and Fayetteville State help the Ellington-White with its mission for arts education. Lectures are held throughout the year by faculty from Fayetteville State's Fine Arts Department in relation to exhibit themes, which rotate about every six weeks. e university and the library also host space for the gallery to present lectures, programs and receptions for and with visiting artists. In addition, Ellington-White partners with Fayetteville State for the university's Upward Bound program for high school students. In similar fashion, the organization holds its "Discovering the Arts" summer program on the FSU campus to bring cultural enrichment to young people ages 9-16. e Cumberland County Community Foundation provides support for this summer encounter. Taught by professional art educators and artists from the community, the program offers participants a full range of art experiences, ranging from instruction in art-making processes and mediums to exposure to dance, Half of Ellington-White's exhibitions are local and half are national.
