Always ink of KD 4 T he Kappa Alpha Chapter of Kap- pa Delta has had an extremely successful year! We have made strides academically, done great philanthropic activities, and are preparing for fall formal re- cruitment. All of this while our members are involved internally and externally! KD Fall Fest, our fall Shamrock event, brought together the community for food, music, and games. We raised over $28,000 for our local charity, Children's Home Society of Florida, and our national charity, Prevent Child Abuse America. In February, we hosted a Girl Scout troop for a Valentine's Day-themed cookie sales event, combined with a confidence building event, Cookies and Confidence with the Girl Scouts. e Color Me KD 5K is our upcoming Shamrock event. "Overall morale within the Chapter is great and we are looking forward to surpassing last year's success," VP Community Service Jillian Herrera '17 said. Kappa Alpha is preparing for fall recruitment! Last year changes were made that had a very positive impact on our formal recruitment pro- cess. is spring, we have held conversational workshops to prepare our members. "Prepar- ing our women early will allow us to use Spir- it Week to enhance sisterhood and focus on fine-tuning the logistics for recruitment," said Ashlyn Rodriguez '16, VP membership. Maia Billman '18 and Madison Mougey '17 are sisters who illustrate our commitment to involvement off and on campus. Sister Maia helped launch Tallahassee's Experience Church, a multi-cultural and multi-genera- tional church that brings hope, healing and a home to the people of Tallahassee. Sister Madi- son was nominated to run for the Student Sen- ator for Undergraduate Studies position. KD rallied together to support Madison in her goal and she was elected! Our Chapter was paired with SigEp this year for Dance Marathon. We participated in nu- merous activities to fundraise. is spring, we challenged UF KD and UCF KD to "Race to 7K in a Day." e goal was to raise a combined total of $7,000 in 24 hours. Over $11,000 was raised and FSU KD raised over $7,000! At DM, Kappa Delta was recognized as the highest fundraising organization on campus, and Sister Caroline Hix '18 was the highest individual fundraiser at $15,021! "e best part of my DM experience as the KD delegate was seeing the passion of our members," Kaley Boran '16 said. Kappa Alpha is holding Mothers Weekend this semester. ere will be a garden party lunch on Saturday and Sunday brunch at the KD house. Kappa Delta mothers and Kappa Delta alum- nae mothers are vital to the development and positive growth of our Chapter. is weekend is dedicated to celebrating them! It has been a wonderful year at Kappa Dela! We look forward to finishing spring semester strong and for all that fall semester will bring.
