ALUMNAE UPDATE
Shirley Hyde Turner '54 shares, "Kappa Alpha has always meant a lot to me aer pledging
in 1954 with many good friends. I remember walking in the Homecoming parade—we
won! My husband and I have been married for 61 years this December. I enjoy my book
club, antique club, and darling grandchildren."
Katharine Jackson Willis '63 shares, "My granddaughter joined Kappa Delta at FSU this fall!
I feel so lucky to have been able to attend her initiation. I live part of the year with my husband
in Apalachiocola, Florida, and Stevens Point, Wisconsin, near my son and his family. I would

Karen Stanius Hord '65 works part-time with her sons in the family business, started by
Karen and her late husband. She golfs twice a week for fun and relaxation. She has served
for the past 10 years as a chapter leader of the KPGA Amateur Golf Association of Fort

Leenetta Blanton Carden '72 shares, "Aer losing my husband to cancer in 2011, I
met and married Bob Carden, an FSU 1976 alumnus and Lambda Chi. Bob has three
children and four grandchildren. In 2017 my son, Chris (FSU Kappa Alpha), and his
wife, Betsy (UF Tri Delta), gave us a grandchild, Maggie. She will have a tough choice!"
