2 Sigma Chapter of Delta gamma * NorthweSterN UNiverSity the common space and also ensured that our plan reflected environmental considerations. We installed new flooring throughout the first floor in keeping with the desire for a less institutional look, but did so in a manner that maintained the original floor underneath. We installed French doors between the living room and the TV room to match the existing French doors to the library and replaced all the furniture, window treatments and rugs on the first floor. As of this writing, we are waiting on the last couple of items to be delivered, but as you read this, the renovation should be complete. Less glamorous, but no less important, we are always keeping an eye on our mechanical systems to ensure the comfort and safety of our collegians. A recent repair to our 60-year-old hot water system revealed the need for prompt replacement. Not surprisingly, the current system has become obsolete, so after receiving recommendations from other houses on campus, we are installing new environmentally efficient tankless hot water heaters. The replacement is scheduled to be completed during spring break so there will be no interruption in daily chapter house activities. As always, we are striving to maintain the house and update it in keeping with comfort and security of the collegians and in a manner that is environmentally sound. I hope that all of you will get a chance to visit the Sigma house soon and see the result of our renovation. I also hope you get to do so when it's a little warmer here! I want to personally thank Lisa Montgomery '79, our past Sigma house corporation president, for her tireless dedication to the Sigma chapter and all things Delta Gamma and wish her continued success in her new role for Region 5. Our loss is most certainly their gain and we will miss her! She credits her pledge mom, Carolyn Bell Geldermann '80, for helping her commit to joining ΔΓ. "I was surrounded with women who uplifted me at ΔΓ," Lisa said. Being a part of ΔΓ gave her a tribe of wonderful women who she has been thankful to stay connected with over the years. As an undergraduate, Lisa served as house manager for Sigma Chapter, and she enjoys reminiscing on all the memories as an active member in the chapter house. Some of her favorite memories include attending house meetings, going to formals, hanging out in the house, and most importantly, making great friends with all her sisters. "I stayed part of the sisterhood because of the fun times and leadership opportunities that ΔΓ gave me," Lisa said. She always admired her ΔΓ sisters for their intelligence, leadership, and great character, which gave her inspiration to be a leader and not a follower. Lisa graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor of science in speech from what is now the School of Communications. After graduating, Lisa took the road less traveled and used her intuitive abilities to forge her path. She began by pursuing education, which further honed her leadership skills and led her to create the Heaven Meets Earth Yoga Life Center in Evanston. Lisa wears many hats today as she is a certified yoga teacher, healing bodyworker, chakra dance facilitator, writer, and film producer! Lisa encourages her sisters in the Evanston area to come take a class at her yoga center or schedule a reiki healing session or healing body work session. Living in Evanston gives Lisa the opportunity to visit campus and the chapter house often. "The house is beautiful," Lisa said, "and I appreciate how well it is kept up!" She says that the active chapter is fortunate to be a part of the ΔΓ sisterhood because it is a great organization for young women to grow up in. "You are blessed to live in downtown Evanston so close to the lake," Lisa said. "Enjoy it, you are lucky!" Though she hasn't stayed as involved with Sigma chapter as she has wanted to, Lisa says that she would love to begin mentoring young women. Her advice is to go to class, get involved, get an on- campus job, and form healthy habits such as eating healthy and exercising. "You are a beautiful and radiant being of light," Lisa said. "Don't give yourself away, and don't be afraid to ask for help and support if you need it!" Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her two children. Her son, Travis, just graduated from Lawrence University, and her daughter, Anna, is a sophomore at Loyola Academy High School. Lisa invites everyone to add and follow her on all her social media accounts. Her Instagram handle is @lisayogamom, her Twitter handle is @lisayogagirl, and her business Facebook account is Heaven Meets Earth Yoga Center.
