Page 3 Beta Sigma Psi PER ASPERA AD ASTRA Chapter's Inagural 5K raCe a suCCess T he members of Beta Sigma Psi are ready to tackle another semester here at Purdue. We have four members graduating this semester: Micah Reynolds '15, Lars Henderson '15, Ethan Ernst '16, and Kevin Schiff '16. This spring we are excited to have two new as- sociate members, and we are doing everything we can to spread the word about our great Beta Chapter community. Beta Members Receive Top Academic Marks We have continued our trend of staying above the average GPA for all IFC fraternities on campus. In the fall semester, we were ranked fourth among all IFC fraternities with a 3.18 semester GPA. Our cumulative GPA has now increased to 3.19. We are making positive steps toward further increasing these numbers. Twelve of our members made Semester Honors, and seven more made the Dean's List! Setting an Exceptional Example We remain focused on competing in intramural sports and have been extremely successful thus far. We look forward to getting involved in more sports in the coming year. Furthermore, many of our members are actively involved with University Lutheran Church, and a few hold officer positions. We are excited about all the changes and improvements going on with the church facilities and would be happy to welcome alumni to come check it out! A Race to the Finish Line In the fall, we hosted our first-ever Beta Sig Boiler Dash. This is a 5K race that we plan to host an- nually. The first running was a huge success with around 50 people signing up, and we are hoping for that number to grow in the years to come. For the spring, we are forming a barbershop quartet to go around and sing to the fraternities and sororities. Both groups will raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Preparing for Recruitment Excellence In preparation for fall recruitment, our members are gearing up for what should be one of our most successful recruitment semesters. We have already received ample interest in Beta Chapter. Schol- arship weekend is coming up, and this has been one of our biggest recruiting tools over the past few years. The turnout has been great with 15-20 high school seniors attending on average. We are hoping to welcome many of these potential members to our Chapter House during fall recruitment.
